Sony’s insurance company, Zurich American, has filed a claim in New York asking to be except from paying to defend the firm over 55 class-action suits filed against in over the PSN data breach earlier this year.

According to a class action lawsuit filed this week, Sony laid off employees who were responsible for the firm’s network security two weeks before the massive data breach occurred in April.

PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai has been talking to a lot of different folks during E3 this year, and the BBC was no exception. According to an interview with the outlet, Hirair said Sony “may never know” what data was stolen by hackers when they breached PSN’s security system.
