PS3 Firmware 2.50 is now live globally
Update: PSP Firmware 5.00 is now also live.
Sony’s put PS3 Firmware 2.50 live in Europe, as promised. We’re downloading as we type.
There are already a slew of reports live saying the update is up in the US.
The update includes the ability to take in-game screenshots, among plenty of other things, all of which are detailed here.

New PS3 and PSP Firmware to launch tomorrow
Update: SCEA’s released a video of the new PSP Store in action.
According to this SCEE post on the European PS boards, PS3 Firmware 2.50 and PSP Firmware 5.00 will both launch tomorrow.
As detailed yesterday, both upgrades will supply a significant boost in functionality, including direct access to the PS Store via PSP and the ability to take screenshots on PS3.

PS3 Firmware 2.50 to include Flash 9 support
According to this Eurogamer article, PS3 Firmware 2.50 is to include support for Flash 9.
The update is expected imminently, and was heavily detailed by SCEA yesterday.

Sony details next Firmware for both PS3 and PSP
Sony’s just posted details of the next Firmware updates for both PS3 and PSP, 2.50 and 5.00 respectively.
There’s a bunch of new functionality in there, but no date aside from “soon”. What you’re going to get, word for word, is after the break

Home open beta not coming with Firmware 2.50
Despite a post from an SCEA staffer to the contrary, Home’s open beta will not launch with Firmware 2.50.
“Open beta will be later this year after 2.5 is released,” said the same poster, retracting his previous statement.
“Sorry about that, I should know better than to say anything that could be misconstrued like that on such an important subject.”
