Microsoft has renewed its trademark for Project Gotham Racing, according to Trademarkia. The trademark covers “computer programs, namely, game software for use on computers and video game players” and was first registered in 2001 ahead of the first entry in the series, an Xbox launch title. The renewal is just good business practice but has reignited excitement over rumours that Lucid Games is developing a new Project Gotham game for the next Xbox console.

Ruffian’s just posted the following on its Twitter account:
“Brum brum! Screech! Mmm, I love the sound of a Tesla in the morning.”
Mr Tesla appears to have got his wires crossed. We’ve just had it confirmed by Ruffian that the recording session was actually for Crackdown 2. Some of the Ruffian guys worked on Gotham 4, innit. Tesla and Agents for the win.

“Microsoft do not comment on rumour or speculation.”

Oyi oyi doggy, what do we have here?
Car company Tesla seems to have outed Project Gotham Racing 5 in a recent blog on their website.
A team from Microsoft Game Studios showed up to record sounds from the Tesla Roadster, with a team of devs from PGR there to do the work.
“A team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios (some working on Forza, some on Project Gotham Racing) asked if I was willing to take my Roadster to a track so they could record a variety of sounds,” was what a Tesla exec said on the blog.
Go wild kiddies. We’ll leave an email with Microsoft about this.
