One of the first mods to roll off the assembly line enabled by the recently-released Skyrim Creation Kit is a neat little effort by Valve, celebrating the modding community’s intended close relationship with Steam Workshop. The Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1 adds the Space-loving Portal 2 core as a companion, and apparently also Nolan North.

RPS has noted that Valve has made its games available on GameStop download service Impulse. The marketplace, which was owned by Stardock up until last year when it was bought by GameStop, now has five titles from the company: Portal 2, The Half-Life Complete Collection, Left 4 Dead 1 + 2 and The Orange Box, all of which end up requiring Steam activation anyways. Still, your options on where to buy Valve games has become more broader now.

Valve has announced the second game add-on Portal 2 is in development and targeted for release early next year. The update includes an “easy-to-use,” in-game map editor so you can design, build and share single-player and co-op test chambers. The community will be able to view, play and vote on your creations with “a simple click.” The development of the editor was mentioned earlier this week with the release of part two of the Final Hours of Portal 2 app, but was unconfirmed at the time. Portal 2′s first content update, Peer Review, was released two weeks ago.

Peer Review, Portal 2′s first piece of DLC, is now up on Live. According to the blurb: “Featuring a devious new co-op track that continues the story of Atlas, Peabody and GLaDOS, the DLC also includes both single and multiplayer challenge modes, plus leaderboards so you can compare your portal placement and time scores with the Portal community.” Cost? Valve’s Portal 2 DLC is still heading your way this summer, and according to spokesman Doug Lombardi, it will be released sometime in mid-September. No further information was revealed about the content, but we’ve previously been told by the firm it will contain new test chambers, new challenge modes, and other nice nuggets for Mac, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
