A couple weeks ago, some retailers in the UK cut a chunk of the price for the brand new Nintendo 2DS handheld thing to just under £100 or so, and that seems to be working out all right. MCV says sales of the device leaped upward by 64 percent in the week after the price drop. Considering awareness had been negligible, that’s a good sign for Nintendo.

Nintendo has published its second-quarter financial report. During the period some 300,000 Wii U consoles were sold as the company struggles to hit its year target of 9 million units. Meanwhile, 3DS hardware sales are down 22%.

Pokemon X & Y has been patched by Game Freak. The update removes a save-breaking bug that saw players losing their progress while saving in certain area of Luminose City.

Pokemon X & Y is barely out and already footage of a rumoured Pikachu title has appeared online. The game is said to be coming to 3DS and appears to feature a mechanic that sees Pikachu copying your facial expressions. It’s quite darling and/or terrifying.

Earlier this week we reported that there is a game-breaking bug in Pokemon X & Y that would corrupt the save data of some players when they saved in Lumiose City, rendering their save file ruined and forcing them to start again. Nintendo has now acknowledged the issue and said that it is working on a fix.

Eagle-eyed Pokemon fans have spotted the back of a Pokemon’s head! It’s Xerneas, appearing in a Smash Bros Wii U screenshot. The deer-like Pokemon has recently has a starring role on the box art of Pokemon X. This has led to speculation that the antlered ‘Mon will be a playable character, but Sakurai isn’t telling.

GAME and other High Street retailers in the UK have broken the Pokémon X & Y street date a day early. According to various sources contacted by MCV, GAME went so far as to send text messages out to those who pre-ordered, telling them to stop in and pick the game up. Apparently since one retailer broke the street date, the others are jumping on the bandwagon. Surely, Nintendo will be very displeased over this. Pokémon X & Y is set to release tomorrow alongside the new 2DS.

Pokémon X & Y is out tomorrow and naturally, animal right group PETA is on their case. The game is called Pokemon: Red White and Blue, and it asks us all to think about how we’d treat Pokémon if they were real in our world, completely forgetting that the game is a work of fantasy.
