No 160Gb PS3 for Australia
Sony Australia has said that “it will not be introducing the limited edition 160GB PS3 announced by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe at the 2008 Games Convention Developers Conference (GCDC) held in Leipzig, Germany.”
Shame. There is good news however, as both the wireless keypad and Play TV have both been confirmed for the region.
So there you go.

Pre-orders open for Play TV for Europe
While hardly meaning a release is set in stone, this is exciting nonetheless. Amazon UK’s opened pre-orders for Play TV, according to this Engadget piece. You can guarantee a place in the PlayStation 3 televisual sun for £60. The site reckons the tuner’s coming out on July 31, although SCEE’s made no announcement as yet.

According to this, British retailer HMV has cancelled pre-orders for Sony’s Play TV after apparently being informed by its “supplier” that the product “no longer has a scheduled release date”.
The TV tuner was supposed to be hitting on March 28 for £99.99, but HMV has now sent through an email to those who bought early saying there’s no fixed date.

Play TV working on PS3 – video
Here. Quite a big file of BBC Online’s tech guy Darren Waters hands-on with Play TV, the PS3 digital TV tuner, presumably at Sony’s office. The movie shows Darren going through a lot of the features of the service, including playing TV from a PS3 through a PSP wirelessly. It’s due out “later this year.”
Go go go.
