EA is getting behind the newly-revealed Samsung Galaxy S4, which looks set to be one of the most successful Android handsets of the next few years. A-list reports the publisher is prepping 16 games for the handset, and will have compatible versions available on the Google Play Store at launch. Supported titles include Tetris Blitz, Real Racing 3, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Plants vs. Zombies, Monopoly and Bejeweled Blitz.

Popcap’s excellent spin on tower defence, Plants vs Zombies, is App of the Week. You can grab it free on iPad or iPhone through February 28. If you or anyone you know is yet to pick up this essential, go go go.

Plants vs Zombies trading cards are on sale at 20% off until November 30, with all proceeds donated to an unnamed charity. Polygon reports you can grab the cards for $79.20 from PopCap’s online store; each box contains 24 packs of seven cards. You’ll get all sixty unique cards in a full box, and PopCap will throw in a signed card or a sketch from original PvZ artist Rich Werner, the game’s original artist, during the sale.

EA really wasn’t kidding when it said its acquisition of PopCap would help get the casual developer’s games on more formats faster; Plant vs. Zombies and Bejeweled 2 are now available on Barnes & Nobles’ Nook HD and Nook HD+ devices. But that’s not the end of EA Mobile’s plans, with Real Racing 2, Tetris, Monopoly and The Game of Life all expected on the tablets over the holiday season. A Plants vs. Zombies Pinball table will release for Zen Pinball 2, Zen Studios and PopCap have announced. Players will use the pinball to collect sunlight as well as money in order to purchase plants. The pinball table will run you $2.99 on PSN which includes Vita and PS3 Cross-Buy features. Alternatively, it will run you 240 MS Points on XBLA where the game is known as Pinball FX 2. It releases next week. A trailer is below.

Plants vs. Zombies creator George Fan is one of the employees at PopCap who have been laid-off by the company, according to a blog post on 1UP. However, Shack notes Fan wasn’t involved with Plants vs Zombies 2. New broke yesterday that the EA-owned studio had made a number of cuts at its Seattle headquarters and its Dublin location and the later is also being evaluated to see if things can be improved “without having to close the operation.”

Whispers say PopCap has something quite unusual in store for its heretofore tower defence charmer, Plants vs Zombies.

You might remember this video from way back in September. PopCap originally released this video during TGS for no apparent reason at all. Today we’re getting word that PopCap has made the song available for download on iTunes with all of the profits going to charity.

The charity involved is called Concern Worldwide and works to benefit some of the poorest places on Earth. If you’ve got £0.79/$0.99 to spare then head on over to iTunes to pick up a copy for a good cause. The music video is embedded after the break.

Sony’s confirmed confirmed in a tweet that PopCap and SOE is bringing Plants vs Zombies to PlayStation Vita. In a tweet, it said: “Surprise! Plants vs Zombies is coming to PS Vita. Thanks @popcap@SonyOnline.” And that’s that.
