iPhone SDK downloads top 100,000, PopCap and Namco on board

Acocrding to this, the beta version of the iPhone SDK has been downloaded over 100,000 times since it was launched last week.

In addition, both Namco and PopCap have pledge support for the platform with Bejeweled, Zuma, Peggle, Pac-Man and Galaga all confirmed for release.

Still no idea when you’re actually going to be able to use the App Store on iTunes and actually play any of this. Quite exciting though, isn’t it? Apart from the Peggle bit, obviously.

That was the news – Week 8, 2008: Unconvincing GDC governed by two main themes: flux and fear

crayonphysics2.jpg

Last week’s GDC was a strange affair that threw up more questions than answers. While it carried the predicted unveiling of Gears of War 2 and a Microsoft keynote holding traditional big hitters such as Fable 2 and Ninja Gaiden II, the event’s main speech’s message was by no means “the norm”. Yes, the blood, swords and guns were all where they were supposed to be, but at the core of John Sheppard’s keynote was a theme of radical change that permeated the entire conference, and one that left both developers and platform holders alike chewing their nails.

GDC: Premium DLC planned for XBLA Peggle

peggle2.jpg

So says this. We hate Peggle, but we can’t ignore it, apparently, because everyone else thinks that watching a ball bounce around for hours on end is a good way to use what little life you own. So, begrudgingly, here’s some news about Peggle. The XBLA version of the PopCap game is supposedly going to have levels you can pay for.

Satisfied now?

XBLA Peggle to include online multiplayer

We love Peggle. So it comes as great news that the upcoming XBLA version will include online multiplayer options. We think this means two of you will be able to watch something happen that you have virtually no control over simultaneously, but that would just be cynical. There’s a movie through the link explaining everything.

PopCap: No Peggle for DS

This is the last story we write about Peggle. According to this, a previous confirmation that nonsense, random, depressing casual game Peggle is coming to DS isn’t true.

“We have ambitious plans for many of our titles including Peggle, and are eager to bring its peg-popping pleasures to as many appropriate platforms and devices as possible,” said PopCap’s Greg Canessa in a press release, “but Nintendo has not approved this product, we have not signed a developer to port Peggle to DS, and we have not green lighted this project.”

In a word: “whoops”.
