Pac-Man – vote on new look, platforms
Namco Bandai has opened a survey asking fans to vote on which of four looks they like best for Pac-Man, as well as what platforms they use the most and some basic demographic information. Visit the yellow hero’s Facebook page to have your say; presumably the publisher is asking for research purposes ahead of future games, and not just to while away an autumn evening.
Thanks, Gematsu.

Mega Man and Pac-Man releasing for SFxT March 13
Capcom has announced Pac-Man and Mega Man will be available for download via PSN on March 13 for Street Fighter X Tekken. Both are rather odd-looking renditions: Mega Man is based off the “bad box art “from the original NES game, and Pac-Man rides around a “Mokujin mech-thing that shoots lasers.” SFxT launches on March 6 in the US and March 9 in Europe. The PC version will be released in May, and the Vita version is slated for fall.

PlayStation 3 and Vita players benefit from yet more exclusive characters, including a Mega-man strongly reminiscent of awful 1980′s cover art.

Old game, new champ: Pac-Man world record topped

Wakka, wakka, wakka, wakka, wakka, wakka. We’d be rushing too, if it meant putting an end to that infernal – though undoutedly iconic – 8-bit sound effect. Recently, the aptly-named David Race did just that and crossed the classic quarter-muncher’s finish line in three hours, 41 minutes, and 22 seconds.
Race zipped right past previous record holder Chris Ayra, shaving 42 seconds off the former champ’s time.
Guess we’ll have to improve on our current time of “What? You can beat Pac-Man?” if we ever hope to get in on the lavish, sexy Pac-championship lifestyle.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Namco releases Pac-Man and Dig Dug on Facebook

Nacmo’s released Facebook versions of Pac-Man and Dig Dug.
While they cannot be played via your browser, at least each game has the ability to track statistics and achievements right on your Facebook profile.
The trial version of each will be free, the full version costing $10. If that is a deal breaker for you, it won’t be for some.

Yasuhara working on 30th birthday Pac-Man game

According to this Gamasutra report, original Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator Hirokazu Yasuhara is working on a new Pac-Man title for the game’s 30th anniversary in 2010.
“We are in the midst of making Pac-Man come back because his 30th anniversary is in 2010 actually,” said Namco boss Makoto Iwai.
“As a group, we feel like we should do something to make him come back. So, there’s one project that we started working on, and [Yasuhara is] part of it.”
Though the whole of Namco’s internal staff was previously working on Afro Samurai to help to complete it, the group has since split into several teams, with one of these working with Yasuhara on the new Pac-Man game.

iPhone SDK downloads top 100,000, PopCap and Namco on board
Acocrding to this, the beta version of the iPhone SDK has been downloaded over 100,000 times since it was launched last week.
In addition, both Namco and PopCap have pledge support for the platform with Bejeweled, Zuma, Peggle, Pac-Man and Galaga all confirmed for release.
Still no idea when you’re actually going to be able to use the App Store on iTunes and actually play any of this. Quite exciting though, isn’t it? Apart from the Peggle bit, obviously.
