Oddworld games about to hit PC, PS3

oddworld

Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning’s told Bitmob that the series is making a return in the not to distant future on PC.

“All four of the major Oddworld games will be re-releasing this winter in a package called The Oddbox,” he said.

“This will be the Abe games, Munch, and Stranger as one package for Steam’s digital distribution network, as well as a few other digital distribution outlets.”

And that’s not all. PS3 owners are about to get them too.

“We just signed the contract this week and the original Abe games will officially be coming to PSN very soon,” Lanning added.

Steam rings in weekend with ridiculous Oddworld sale

oddworldthing

Economy knocking you out of your gaming groove? Miss the Good Ol’ Days? Well, here’s your chance to relive them – at penny-pinching prices!

This weekend, Valve’s Steam service is bundling Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and its bigger, better, odder sequel Abe’s Exoddus together for a paltry $3.75. Two great games or one bad cheeseburger – the choice is pretty obvious, we think.

You could also, we suppose, buy each game separately for $2.50 a pop and still be abiding by the rules and regulations set forth by the government, but why would you even do that? It’s your money, but still.

Lanning: “Consoles are a problem”

lornelanning.jpg

He’s back. Oddworld boss Lorne Lanning has announced his return to the games industry by calling out consoles in general. As you do.

“Personally, I think the consoles are a problem,” he told GameDaily.

“Years ago I was excited about consoles, but anything that makes development more expensive, rather than better, faster, cheaper, I think is a step backwards. When I look at what’s happening, it’s a bit disappointing because the consoles are running into a place where affordable games are having a rough time getting out there.”

PC’s where it’s at, apparently.

“I’m more excited about what I see happening on PC because I see it allowing for more smaller games to be sold that can be delivered to anyone who’s connected at much lower price points,” he added.
