Rising Star Games announces release date for the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2008 cult smash-hit

Tuesday 6th April 2010: Leading videogames publisher Rising Star Games today confirms that the highly anticipated sequel No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will be released throughout Europe on 28th May, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.

Travis Touchdown, the pro-wrestling-obsessed assassin, returns three years after he first became the top assassin in the United Assassins Association (UAA) and walked away. Fighting to avenge the brutal murder of his best friend, Travis must rise through the ranks of an incredible 51 assassins to once again make it the top of the UAA league table.

But it won’t be easy as there are more deadly bosses than ever before. To prepare gamers with the tools to make it a fair fight, there are a total of six different weapons in the game – including a highly covetable dual-beam katana – along with 13 unique wrestling moves to master as well as exhilarating Tiger metamorphosis.

To further expand gameplay, there are two new playable characters: Henry, Travis’s twin brother who was once married to Sylvia Christel; and Shinobu Jacobs, Travis’s protege whose signature move is the Sonic Sword.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle also includes 8-bit arcade-style addictive mini-games that crop up in Travis’s side jobs, providing opportunities to earn money for different items, such as weapons and clothing. And, to allow gamers to focus 100% on the action, the game also features a brand new and easy-to-navigate 2D map so they can jump straight into battles.

Developed by Goichi ‘Suda51′ Suda’s studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is the only sequel the team has ever worked on, and Suda51 has famously named it the No More Heroes game he originally wanted to make.

Rising Star Games has confirmed No More Heroes 2 will get a European release at the end of April.

It hit at the end of last year in Japan, launching in the US a couple of weeks back from Ubisoft, who decided not to bring it to Europe.

“It was one of the few games on the Wii that truly deserved the undivided attention of gamers across all formats and No More Heroes 2 promises to take this to the next level,” said managing director of RSG, Martin Defries.

It’ll be released on Wii, with a PS3/360 version of the series, Heroes’ Paradise, out in April in Japan.

Rising Star Games confirms No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for spring European release

Travis Touchdown is back for more in the highly charged second instalment, fuelled by bloodthirsty revenge

Thursday 11th February 2010: Leading videogames publisher Rising Star Games, today confirms that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, is on track to be released throughout Europe at the end of April 2010.

Soaked in slick graphic novel-style visuals, No More Heroes 2 is clever, mature and further validates the series’ reputation as one of the most original and unique games on the Wii. The story follows Travis Touchdown who now finds himself the 51st ranked assassin – placed at the bottom of the UAA (United Assassins Association) table. He has to fight his way back to the top, while seeking revenge for the murder of his best friend.

Legendary developer Suda 51 is naming No More Heroes 2 the game he’s always wanted to make – playing on the original’s strengths – complete with smart storyline, refined combat (utilising two beam katanas) and characters, and red blood. Lots and lots of red blood.

“The first No More Heroes game fast built a reputation as a benchmark in the Wii’s capabilities, and was brave and bold enough to stand out from the crowd as an antidote to the glut of party games on the market for the console,” says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. “It was one of the few games on the Wii that truly deserved the undivided attention of gamers across all formats and No More Heroes 2 promises to take this to the next level.”

Accolades for a new IP on the Wii were impressive too. NGamer scored the original No More Heroes 94%, Edge awarded it 9/10, GamesMaster and GamesTM scored it 90%, and Official Nintendo Magazine gave it 88%.

In the US, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle continues to live up to the series’ expectations.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle launches throughout Europe on Nintendo Wii at the end of April.

According to some documents that have surfaced for No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, the sequel was to have more in-depth revenge missions, along with different character interactions, and multi-faceted missions.

Posted over on AGB, the documents are presented in PDF format, and show not only the stages of the game, but dialogue and the storyline as well.

It’s a rather interesting read, as the presentation seems to suggest that the original concept had more depth.

Then again, there is no way to verify the authenticity of the content.

The Wii-exclusive is out now in North America.

Looks like No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise has been pushed into April over in Japan for “various reasons”.

Slated at one point for a February release, the Feelplus developed HD revamp may have been pushed into the next fiscal quarter in an effort to adjust Marvelous’ financial report, suggests Siliconera.

Fate/extra and Harvest Moon: Twin’s Village were also pushed into the next fiscal quarter.

Marvelous sold 50 percent of its stock in Rising Star Games to Intergrow earlier in the month, due to lower than expected sales in the West and current market conditions; however, the latter still plans to continue publishing titles from the company.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle was released on Wii in the US this month, with a European date to be announced.

When released in the spring, No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is slated for Xbox 360 and PS3.

IGN’s stuck No More Heroes’ first review live, giving Suda’s latest 8.8/10.

Summing up, the site said, “This isn’t a game that begs you play it. It’s a game that knocks on your front door, waits for you to answer in a towel and your favorite pair of slippers, rips your head off, and shoves itself down your throat.”

Apparently the Wii-only action sequel still has “obvious issues, including a suspect framerate and camera system.”

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle details the continuing adventures of slick-haired lead Travis. It features tits and swords.

Ubisoft sat down with Goichi Suda during E3 and talked to him about Grasshopper Manufacture’s No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.

During the chat, Suda 51 discussed Travis Touchdown’s maturity, character interaction with players, the themes of life and death in the game, and how setting limits is something he avoided when creating the sequel.

“You don’t need to put any limits when it comes to raw expression,” he said. “Limiting expression is just something set up by people to please other people.

“So we didn’t do anything like that for No More Heroes 2.”

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle screens have landed. So has a trailer.

IGN’s posted a translation of the No More Heroes 2 details from Famitsu this week, giving first notes on characters and plot.

The game’s set three years after the original, and features both Travis Touchdown and Silvia Chrystel.

According to that piece, “Due to heavy investment from large corporations, Santa Destroy has rapidly become a tourist town. One day, Sylvia suddenly appears before Travis and invites him to another assassin ranking battle.

“At that very moment, Travis’s sole friend, Bishop, is seen in somewhat of a pinch as a gang of ruffians take close aim at his head with guns.”

Full thing through there. Trailers, and all the rest of it, will be released during E3.

Wii Brasil’s posted the first images of No more Heroes 2, scanned from the latest Famitsu.

The game, titled No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, is shown off there in concept art and screens.

We could pretend to know something about it, but we didn’t play the first one. So we won’t.
