UPDATE: Phil Spencer said on Major Nelson’s podcast that they will have a “unique exclusive” for Xbox One at Gamescom, and also said they’ll have something to say about “Europe’s biggest franchise.” I’m not speculating.
Microsoft will be at Gamescom in force to showcase the Xbox One, with Phil Spencer delivering the keynote address and the company holding a pre-Gamescom event on Tuesday. Lone Survivor creator Jasper Byrne has shelved his unannounced new project, New Game +, citing issues of scope. A blog posts outlines his reasons and gives an idea of the project’s proposed shape. It’s all a bit sad, but there’s good news, too – Lone Survivor is making the jump to consoles, specifically PlayStation 3 and Vita, and is being re-coded from scratch by Curve Studios, the team behind Explodemon. Lone Survivor launched earlier this year and has players as the titular character exploring a city in the wake of a viral attack of some kind.
