Need for Speed: Most Wanted will feature off-screen gameplay when it lands on Wii U this year. This is according to a press release issued by EA Japan, which also dropped a date of March 14 for the racer. Details on the Wii U version have been a bit scarce since it was announced for the platform, but it looks as though menus and various car-related information will be accessible through the touch screen. It’s also good news knowing that you can play entire game using the GamePad, which will allow others in the house to watch their stories on TV while you race around Fairhaven City.

With a release announced for Japan, it shouldn’t be long before we hear something on Europe and North America. Thanks, Nintendo Life.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted popped up in this week’s console network updates with a new piece of premium DLC called the Ultimate Speed Pack. The $10 content drop includes five new cars – the Pagani Zonda R, McLaren F1 LM, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, Lamborghini Aventador J and Hennessey Venom GT Spyder, a new Most Wanted List event, new rewards and unlocks, and over 70 new Car Milestones. Sony has added another sale to its 12 Deals of Christmas promotion, and those who feel the Need for Speed, can pick up Most Wanted for up to 60% off. The racer would normally cost you £59.99/€69.99, but from now until December 16 at 11.59pm, you can download it for £23.99/€29.99 instead. Go go go.

EA has updated its Autolog mobile app with support for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The free app allows displays maps, news and allows you to manage your friend interactions. PocketGamer reports Hot Pursuit support has gone offline temporarily as a result of the update, but will return soon.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted has a demo available through PSN and XBL today, if you wish to give it a go. In it, you can race around the streets of Fairhaven City in your lovely Aston Martin V12 Vantage, or hop into a Ford Focus RS500, Audi R8 GT Spyder, or the Porsche 911 Carrera S. Those who try the demo can accumulate as much as 50,000 Speed Points which will carry over into the full version of the game.
