NASCAR The Game: Inside Line getting Gen 6 vehicle DLC
Eutechnyx and Activision have announced new DLC for NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. The DLC contains Gen 6 cars from the NASCAR circuit, including the Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry models for first time. Players will be able to use these new cars online and in selected single-player modes, as well as with the upcoming Inside Line Highlights series of in-game DLC packs to be sold separately. These packs “utilize telemetry data from actual NASCAR races to let players relive and rewrite race events just as they unfold for real,” said a joint statement. The NASCAR Gen 6 cars will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 later in February.

Interview – Eutechnyx’s Dave Thompson on bringing NASCAR to the masses

Activision formally announced NASCAR The Game 2011 this morning, amid rumors swirling around the publisher securing the license to the franchise last week.
Today, VG247 was given the opportunity to speak with NASCAR The Game’s UK-based developer Eutechnyx, a studio known for creating racing titles since 1996.
NASCAR will allow you to either play as yourself or any real-life driver through 22 tracks. Cars can be damaged in “meticulous detail” with multi-car wrecks, and online 16-player multiplayer.
It all sounds very racy, and executive producer Dave Thompson told Keza MacDonald all about the game and how excited the studio is for the opportunity to develop the title.
Get the full interview along with shots of a few cars below.

“No plans” for more EA NASCAR, says Moore
Sounds as though any aspiration EA may have had to make more NASCAR games has gone south.
“There are no plans right now for NASCAR from EA,” EA Sports boss Peter Moore told Gamespot.
“We had a great relationship over the years that I thoroughly enjoyed when I first got here. Unfortunately…we had to make some tough trade-offs.
“We’ve had to redeploy some of those folks. A number of the NASCAR team has moved over now to EA Sports MMA, which will be shipping next year. [We're] still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports.”
Moore’s comments represent a shift in position from April this year, when he told VG247 that “NASCAR and ourselves are in negotiations about where we go from here.”
Clearly not any more.

EA’s NASCAR sim series “on hold,” kid-friendly kart racer in its place

It’s official: simulation racing is old news. EA said so, and – to be honest – knows oodles more about turning left and occasionally exploding than we do, so we’re deferring to the mega-publisher’s opinion.
As such, EA told Joystiq that its NASCAR sim racing series has stalled out for now, but that there are few go-carts sitting in the garage should you really need to get anywhere.
“NASCAR Kart Racing on the Wii is the only NASCAR-licensed video game that will ship this year from EA Sports. Due to the family-friendly atmosphere of NASCAR, we felt that a title developed exclusively for the Wii platform was the best scenario for the NASCAR racing video game franchise and fans of racing alike,” a representative from EA Tiburon said.
However, the future holds infinite possibilities, and EA still slips into its bathing suit and lounges atop NASCAR’s hood for photo shoots or whatever, so anything’s possible.
“We maintain a strong relationship with NASCAR and will continue discussions regarding future NASCAR racing titles,” the EA rep emphasized.
So there you go.
