Call of Duty Elite subscribers who activated their accounts on launch day, will be receiving an extra three months of service, and Activision email has stated. The extension is the firm’s way of apologizing for service outages at Modern Warfare 3′s launch. Initially, subscribers were to receive one moth free, but now they shall have three in total instead. Elite services will be offered for free when Black Ops 2 launches on November 13. Thanks, Shack.

Modern Warfare 3 Collection 3: Chaos Pack is now available on Steam and PS3. The pack contains the Special Ops Chaos mode, four new Special Ops missions, and three Face Off maps for solo and co-op gameplay. The pack was made available on Xbox 360 and to Call of Duty Elite PS3 members last week.

Final Assault, Modern Warfare 3′s fourth and final DLC collection which includes Gulch, Decommission, Off Shore, Boardwalk and Parish will release for Elite Premium Members on Xbox 360 September 5. The DLC, which brings five multiplayer maps into the fray, will be available for purchase to everyone on Xbox 360 on September 6. Elite Premium Members on PS3 will receive Drops 19-21 (Light ‘Em Up, Special Delivery and Special Ops Chaos Mode) on September 6. A video for Final Assault is below.

A demo for Modern Warfare 3 will be released on Xbox Live tomorrow. It will feature the single-player mission Black Tuesday. It will also be made available at a later date for PS3. Thanks, Shack.

According to a CBS report, a 15 year old boy from Columbus has been hospitalised for dehydration following a four day Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 orgy. The teenager apparently collapsed – having already fallen over three times – after a four day gaming session during which he left his room only to visit the toilet and get snacks. He is expected to make a full recovery, but his mum took his Xbox 360 away. Seriously guys: everything in moderation.

Activision has released a set of screenshots for the July Modern Warfare 3 content drop, which will arrive on Xbox 360 July 17 for Elite Premium members. Premium Elite members will receive four exclusive drops on Tuesday, July 17, including three multiplayer maps and a Special Ops mission. Terminal is available to download next Tuesday, July 17. Non-ELITE Premium members on the Xbox 360 will receive Terminal free a day later on Wednesday, July 18. PS3 Elite Premium members will also see four content pieces in July, with three Face Off maps and a Special Ops mission releasing on July 19. Throughout July, a huge pile of Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 DLC is on sale at 50% off. Even better, if you take the opportunity to pick up some DLC on the cheap, Activision Blizzard will send a whack of the cash to Call of Duty Endowment, a not-for-profit veteran support agency. The promotion covers PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although please note that the sale won’t arrive on the European PSN until July 4.

The second Modern Warfare 3 DLC Collection has launched on Steam and PC. It includes three multiplayer maps, two Special Ops Missions, and the debut of Face Off maps. It was released through PSN via usual store update this week.

The free Face Off mode added less than a month ago to the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will make its way to PlayStation 3 owners shortly.

Infinity Ward has announced double XP on all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 playlists from May 23 through May 29. It looks like the bonus applies to all three platforms, but is likely related to the release of the second content collection on Xbox Live this week.

Activision has released a video for Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection #2, showing the new Face Off maps set to music you’d hear while traversing main street in an old west town at high noon. Content Collection #2 contains the Multiplayer/Survival Mode Maps Sanctuary, Foundation and Oasis, Special Ops Missions Iron Clad and Switch Back and the Face Off maps Getaway and Lookout. While premium Elite members received the pack on May 15, and everyone else received the Face Off content the following day, the pack can be downloaded via Xbox Live on May 22 for 1200 Microsoft Points/$14.99. All content will be available on other platforms at a later date.

Delta Force developer NovaLogic is suing Activision for violating its trademark over the use of the Delta Force and a similar emblem in Modern Warfare 3. NovaLogic has held the trademark on Delta Force since 1998, and in its complaint states the term “Delta Force” is not in use by the US government: “The US. Army officially denies that any unit called Delta Force exists and does not claim ownership to either the Delta Force name or the logo.” The firm claims it also issued two cease-and-desist letters to Activision last year, which it claims were ignored by the firm. Nine Delta Force gave have been released, and a tenth titled Delta Force: Angel Falls is purportedly in the works. More on Polygon.
