Kevin Tancharoen, creator and director Mortal Kombat Legacy, is no longer slated to direct the Mortal Kombat film which has been in the works since 2011. Taking to Twitter, Tancharoen stated: “After 3 years of Kombat, I’ve decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!” Last we heard, the film’s budget was set at $40 million with the plot revolving around a supermarket employee who discovers he has super powers. Via Ain’t It Cool. Thanks, rumrod.

This seems to have slipped off our radar, but as promised the second season of the web-series Mortal Kombat: Legacy is available now in its entirety. The first Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series had over 60 million views according to director Kevin Tancharoen. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 starts September 26, it’s been announced. The entire season will arrive at once, and introduces Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kenshi and Ermac to the live-action series. Shang Tsung will be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa this season – he’s the same actor who played the character in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. A video is below. Thanks, Shack.

Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios is said to be working on a new entry to the series that will tie in to the Legacy live-action series. The game was mentioned casually by Legacy’s producer Lance Sloane in an interview.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy was the focus of a panel session at Comic-Con yesterday, and during the session a number of new characters have been billed to feature in new episodes, along with an emphasis on fatalities and brutal fighting.

The return of the highly successful web series is thanks to a deal between Warner Bros. and Machinima, and the new episodes kick off on February 17.

Season two of Mortal Kombat: Legacy has been announced by producer, director Kevin Tancharoen. The video below is just the announcement for the second season, and while it doesn;t show any clips from the live-action web series, Tancharoen at least gives you an idea of which characters will star in it, as well as some plot points. Warner Premiere has announced Mortal Kombat: Legacy will arrive in stores on Blu-ray November 8. It includes all nine episodes from the web series, and 30 minutes of bonus content with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. A disc with featurettes “dedicated to the series’ fights, weapons, super powers, and unabashed Mortal Kombat fanatic/director Kevin Tancharoen,” is also included reports Gamespot. At launch it will run you $20.

What started out last year as an unofficial thing, the final episode for official Mortal Kombat mini-series Legacy has breathed its last breath. The final episode mainly focusses on how characters Cyrax and Sektor came to be. You can get it below the break, via GameSpot, and then probably buy the game if you haven’t done so already.
