Monster Hunter 3′s Western release changing for the better

monsterhunter31b

Kotaku sends word that Monster Hunter 3′s receiving a extra additions en route to its Western release – you know, aside from that whole “English language” option we’re so fond of around here.

First up, the cooperative monster mash is probably losing its subscription fee when it crosses the pond.

“It’s something that we’re looking into at the moment and there are a few factors to consider. Firstly, Monster Hunter isn’t as popular in the West, so it might put people off. Secondly, Japan doesn’t have Friend Codes, so Capcom run all the servers and the monthly fee is essentially to pay for those costs,” Capcom’s Chris Kramer said.

In addition, Capcom producer Ryozo Tsjmoto said that the publisher is currently “looking into” possible Wii Speak functionality for the game.

Monster Hunter 3 cheater gets banned until 9999

monsterhunter31b

Buuuurn.

Capcom’s thrown down the banhamer on one poor bastard who decided to cheat while playing Monster Hunter 3. How long is the ban? 7 millenia, as in December 12 9999. The message from Capcom, which confirms the ban, reads:

Dear Customer

You are presently banned for using modded data to connect online. The ban will be left at 22:49 on 12/12/9999. The next time you violate the terms of use, you will never again be able to connect.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Capcom: It might be worthwhile for us to work on MH3 for PS3/360

monsterhunter31b

Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto hasn’t quite ruled out the possibility of Monster Hunter 3 jumping ship from the Wii to the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Speaking at GamesCom, the producer said that if it was a “worthwhile” challenge, it might happen.

“We haven’t thought about it yet.”

“We’ve been asked that a lot. As creators, we want to be challenged. If that challenge would be worthwhile for us to work on in the future, then probably,” said Tsujimoto.

But for now, he’s quite content with the game being on the Wii.

Having said that, at the moment, I like working with the Nunchuk and the Wiimote quite a lot. Actually, a lot of the R&D guys told me that you can’t go back to using the classic controller because it feels rigid. We’re very happy with Tri. If there’s a new challenge on a different console, we’ll consider [it].”

Game’s out now in Japan. It’s coming to the West early next year.

Thanks, NowGamer.

Rumor: Wii’s Monster Hunter offerings require purchase of Hunting Tickets

monsterhuntera

Capcom’s upcoming Monster Hunter G and Monster Hunter 3 will charge Wii users a fee for online multiplayer in the way of Hunting Tickets, if this post over on NeoGAF is to be believed.

Capcom has apparently released a pricing schedule that goes into effect after players’ 14-day online trial expires. If you want to continue playing, will have to purchase Hunting Tickets.

Three different offerings will be made available lasting 30, 60 and 90 days. Each will run you 800, 1500, and 2000 Wii Points, respectively.

No word yet on when to expect either game, but at least with a real hunting ticket/license you get to keep shooting stuff for an entire year.

We’ll check this with Capcom.
