Minecraft Xbox 360 patch 1.7.3 is live, but isn’t without issues. Developer 4J Studios has announced that a fix is now with Microsoft pending approval and should be available next week.

Don’t forget: Minecraft 1.3 releases today, August 1, and it contains Adventure Mode and all kinds of crazy stuff. You can view the detailed and extensive changelog here on Reddit. The update also brings trading, LAN support to single-player, allows you to leave messages for other players, increases the game’s resource requirements, and more. Don’t have too much fun with it. You still have jobs ya know.

Uniloc has filed a patent infringement suit against Mojang for Minecraft, in which the firm claims the Android version of Mindcraft (sic) uses claim 107 of patent #6,857,067 without its expressed permission.

As promised last week, Minecraft Xbox 360 update 1.7.3 will release tomorrow. It comes with all sorts of additions and fixes, and you can get the entire list of updates through OXM, which was kind enough to compile the patch notes for you. Also, if you visit the XBL experience on your console during the Summer of Arcade promotion, you’ll get a free customized Summer of Arcade Skin Pack that contains skins for all five Summer of Arcade games. Mojang’s Markus Persson has announced via Twitter that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft became profitable within an hour of launch. The figures in the first 24-hours were “very, very good,” he said. Major Nelson added that as of post time, there were 400,000 people playing the game, which should “give you an idea at how well it is doing.”

Microsoft’s released a new Minecraft 360 trailer ahead of the XBLA title’s release next week. The 4J-made console version of the Mojang explorer will feature two and four-player splitscreen, as well as up to eight player support on Xbox Live. Get the video below.
It’s out next Wednesday for 1600 MS points.

Mojang boss Markus Persson doesn’t seem too impressed with EA’s Indie Bundle currently available on Steam, and has taken to Twitter to call the firm out for using the term indie to describe its game pack.

Mojang has updated Minecraft Pocket Edition on iOS to Version 0.3.0, which among other things adds crafting. The update is available on Android as well. Get the update notes through here.

Microsoft has confirmed to MCV the XBLA release of Minecraft will get a retail release alongside the three other games in the Arcade Next line-up. The 360 version of the Mojang title will get a card-based release at GAME as part of the retailer’s current code distribution deal with Microsoft for Xbox Live content.
The game launches on Xbox Live Arcade on May 9 for 1600 MS points.

A teaser video for Notch’s 0x10c space sim is below. The developer said the title is still “extremely early in development,” but like with Minecraft, Mojang expects to release it early to allow the players help “shape the game as it grows.” The title’s cost is still undecided, but “it’s likely there will be a monthly fee for joining the Multiverse,” as the team plans to “emulate all computers and physics even when players aren’t logged in.” The single-player portion won’t be saddled with any recurring fees.
