Quick quotes: Activision wants to “experiment with” a variety of Modern Warfare 3 content
“The idea of giving people constant incremental playable content and making it so you’re never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe is part of what we’re experimenting with. This franchise doesn’t really behave like most franchises. It’s become something of a year-round activity for a large percentage of our player population. One of the things that was most appealing when we were researching these ideas with consumers is the idea of breaking up the DLC so that it comes more often and more regularly. We want to provide DLC to people more often and also experiment with more of a variety in the forms of playable content. The nature of this kind of service requires constant iteration. There are things [in development] that consumers don’t yet know they want… because they can’t imagine it.” – Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg to Wired.

Reminder: Today is the last day to register for Elite’s Founder program
Just a quick reminder to all that today is the last day to become a “Founder” of Act vision’s Call of Duty Elite service. Those who choose the Founder option will be handed an exclusive title, weapon camouflage, and emblem for Modern Warfare 3. Those who opt-in will also have access to a private discussion group, and will receive 500 XP for your clan, as well as “exclusive competitions and prizes that only Founders can enter.”
Founder status is permanent whether you renew next year or not, and will run you $50 annually. Those who purchase the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 and have yet to enter the attached voucher granting Founder can still do so, despite today’s deadline. Thanks, Shack.

Timeline video catches you up on events leading to Modern Warfare 3
Major Nelson has posted a timeline video for Modern Warfare, which should get you caught up on the events leading up to Modern Warfare 3. For those who haven’t played the previous two games in the series, it all started with the assassination attempt of a Russian arms dealer by the British military. Unfortunately, Lt. John Price only blew the fella’s arm off instead of killing him, and it’s been hell ever since. Watch the video below. Game’s out in six days.

Quick Quotes: Guillermo del Toro is a huge CoD fan
“I absolutely am a big Call of Duty fan. Every time a new Call of Duty comes out – I never play the games online, but I play the solo version super fast. My family knows not to interrupt me the day they come out, they know it’s a sacred date for me. I think my favorite visually, of all of the Call of Duty games — even if it’s not as sassy and high tech — is World at War because, that game has some really incredible episodes in Berlin and the Japanese fields. It’s really quite arresting for me, visually, and it was very immersive. But I love Modern Warfare, too.” – Guillermo del Toro on his love of CoD games.
