Minecraft Pocket Edition has been purchased 5 million times, according to a tweet from Mojang’s Johan Bernhardsson. The figure brings the Minecraft franchise sales to close 17.5 million – give or take – for all versions. Online multiplayer is in the works for the Android and iOS versions, and the next update to the game comes in early 2013 with 0.5.1. It will fix some issues and tweak a few things. Thanks Joystiq.

Head on over to the Amazon App Store to pick up Minecraft Pocket Edition for Kindle Fire for $7. The sandbox offering has been available on iOS and many Android devices for quite a while now, but took its time making an official debut on Amazon’s tablet.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been updated to version 0.3.3, and now when you fire up the game on Android, iPhone or iPad, you can now use a bow and arrow to take down skeletons and spiders, which have also been added to the mobile edition. Mojang has announced Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold over one million units for Android. The title, which was released in August on the Xperia phone before moving on to other Andriod platforms and iOS in September, had sold 700,000 units as of January. From then until present, the game sold an additional 300,000 units. The game is currently priced at $6.99 and the latest update was released around Valentine’s Day.

Mojang’s delayed the release of an update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition due to the discover of bugs in the update. Mojang designer Daniel Kaplan said on Twitter the team had discovered “bugs bugs bugs.” The update is due to be out soon, though.

Mojang has announced via Twitter the firm’s Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold over 700,000 copies on Android since its launch in August on Xperia Play. The game was released for other Android platforms in September for $6.99. Thanks, Gamasutra.

Mojang’s announced it’ll released the iOS version of Minecraft tomorrow. Known as the Pocket Edition, it’ll be priced at $10, with iOS and Android users able to mix together online, according to the company. The game had previously launched for Android as an Xperia Play exclusive back in August. It came to other Android-enabled devices in September.
