Early this morning we got some details on and a trailer for the bonus mission that Xbox family editions of Ground Zeroes will include a bonus scenario set in in same location as the main game except you control Raiden in a fight again the body snatchers. Explanations for this inside.

Confirming long-held suspicions that Hideo Kojima will not live forever while continuing to make Metal Gear games in perpetuity until humankind becomes extinct, Kojima himself told Xbox Wire that at some point somebody else will be in charge of making new entries in the popular stealth franchise.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroe’s Snake is voiced by 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, much to the annoyance of many David Hayter fans. Kojima has explained that the demands of the role needed someone like him, and helped raise the bar in terms of expression and performance.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has been given a confirmed Spring release window on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Director Hideo Kojima has also confirmed the link between the game and The Phantom Pain. Screens inside.

Kojima Productions LA is now officially open for business, and Konami has confirmed the studio’s involvement in upcoming Metal Gear Solid titles. That’s ‘titles’ plural.

An actor is going to appear in Metal Gear Solid 5 as “the one you thought I would be from the start”, apparently. If this were any other game, I’d probably bury this story in so much salt just looking at it would close your arteries.

The Phantom Pain developer ‘Joakim Mogren’ has uploaded what appears to be an unsettling trailer for the mysterious project, containing some hidden clues that smell like Metal Gear Solid 5.

The Phantom Pain was discussed by Moby Dick Studio’s supposed CEO Joakim Mogren – who appeared on camera with his face covered in bandages – he dodged every question, but did give host Geoff Keighley a look at some new screens, which revealed something interesting indeed.

According to MetalGearSolid.nl‘s translation of an interview on MetalGearSolid.be, Kojima Productions’ Ken Imaizumi said Hideo Kojima’s GDC presentation will be livestreamed. GDC sessions are normally filmed and made available after the show, but Kojima’s presentation is unusual in another way, being 90 minutes long. Kojima will discuss the FOX Engine and show footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, so cross your fingers for word we’ll all be able to tune in. GDC runs March 25 through 29, and Kojima’s presentation is scheduled for 11:00 AM PT March 27.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be shown during Hideo Kojima’s GDC ’13 session, along with his studio’s FOX Engine. Originally, Kojima was only going to show off the engine, but thanks to an extended slot, he is showing off more of the game live.

Hideo Kojima will detail the FOX Engine for first time through a demonstration featuring Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes at GDC. The session, “Photorealism Through the Eyes of a ‘Fox’ – The Core of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes” will show some of the “key components and unique methods” used in the game’s development, according to GDC organizers. The talk will focus on the lighting system, environmental elements, and character realism among other things including the FOX Engine tools. Technical director Junji Tago, lighting artist Masayuki Suzuki, and CG art director Hideki Sasaki will join Kojima on stage. GDC takes place March 25-29 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The Phantom Pain was the mysterious ‘new’ game unveiled at the VGAs over the weekend. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that it’s actually either Metal Gear Solid 5 or Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. We’ve analysed the reveal in full here to explain why we feel it’s Metal Gear-related. Supposed developer Moby Dick studios has published a set of HD screens from the game on its shady site.
