Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to The Phantom Pain, was almost released right after Peace Walker and according to Hideo Kojima, it could have been either PSP or PS3 title.

The PlayStation 4 All Access launch event being held tomorrow night at 11pm EST will feature a special announcement regarding Bungie’s Destiny, host Geoff Keighley teased on Twitter. Other announcements planned for the event include news on: Metal Gear Solid 5 along with a new trailer; a look at story DLC for The Last of Us, new PS4 game announcements and more. Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will release with PlayStation-exclusive content, according to a display image posted by Hideo Kojima on Twitter. According to the display which was set up for the PS4 launch event in New York – and you have to squint to see it – the game contains “Exclusive content on PlayStation platforms”. The information was noticed by a NeoGAF user. The game’s out this spring on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Thanks, CVG.

With the FOX Engine, Metal Gear Solid 5 looks great both on current-gen systems as well as the new ones, but “great” isn’t the goal — Kojima says they want “photo-realistic graphic quality.”

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has made comments that allude heavily to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain being a gameplay experience that will extend well beyond consoles. In typical fashion he wasn’t terribly specific, but he has in the past hinted at second-screen functionality.

After a half hour gameplay showing at TGS last week, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s prologue Ground Zeroes has attracted ire from a section of fans who are worried that certain elements of gameplay, such as the introduction of regenerating health, are too far removed from the series’ previous iterations. Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to respond.

Game Informah had a chat with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima at TGS, and a lot of what he has to say are things we’ve heard before. They did, thankfully, ask him what he thinks of Hayter’s rather bitter reaction to being supplanted in favor of Kiefer Sutherland. His answer is… surprising.

Konami did a live demo of a Metal Gear Solid 5 mission at TGS (not a real mission, but it does take place in a real game location), running on PS4 and showing off the Fox Engine’s ability to render sunlight. Check inside for the video.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima said at a press event at Kojima Productions’ new Los Angeles studio Thursday that one of the reasons they decided to open a new office near Hollywood was to make it easier to explore transmedia possibilities. Kojima may even already have such projects in the works, but he won’t confirm or deny that.
