Imaizmu reveals that Kojima tried his hand at creating a controller

hideokojima

Kenichiro Imaizmu, producer of the Metal Gear Solid series at Kojima Productions, has revealed that Hideo Kojima had tried to build his own controller for Metal Gear Solid 4.

“We tried running electric shock waves, install a pulse reader … we also tried to build a controller that’s receptive to the strength of the [player's] grip,” he said. “We tried a lot, even a transforming controller.”

Sounds a bit painful, that shocking bit.

“Remain patient” on MGS4 Trophy issue, says Konami

metalgear4

Trophies. Metal Gear Solid 4. Never the twain shall meet. Or will they? Kojima Productions’ Sean Eyestone, speaking in this podcast, has thrown the whinging masses yet another lifeline.

Just to address one issue that we’ve been getting a lot of comments about. And this is, of course, about trophies.

I just wanna tell everybody out there right now that your voices are being heard and that we’re not ignoring you. We hear everything that you are saying. It’s just that we can’t say anything just yet.

But as soon as we have something to say, we will announce it. So, if we can just ask everyone to just be patient, we will give you an answer. But right now we can’t say anything. So we just ask for everyone’s understanding with that and just ask for everybody to remain patient and we’ll let you know.

What will you all live for when Trophies get added? It’ll be like legalising heroin: all the fun’ll be knocked out of it.

Thanks, Examiner and CVG.

Jaffe: MGS4 devs had “a whole hell of a lot of tenacity and vision”

mgs41b.jpg

During an interview with The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, God of War’s David Jaffe said the game he was “most jealous” of was Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 and that the dev team must have had real “tenacity and vision” to make a game of that quality. writes Joystiq.

“To make a game of that scale and at that level of quality clearly took a whole hell of a lot of tenacity and vision,” he explained.

Sony expects Killzone 2 to fare better than MGS4

killzone3b.jpg

According to this V for Videogames piece, a Sony rep has said the company expects Killzone 2 sales to be as good, if not better than Metal Gear Solid 4.

“It would be a lie to say Sony has not invested heavily in Killzone 2 and each individual at Guerilla games has worked even harder to satisfy any expectations kept by the company and their loyal community,” said the rep.

“I do see the game breaking a barrier with a huge variety of groups and expect it to see sales as good as Metal Gear Solid 4 if not beyond it.”

PS3 MGS4 bundle now cheap as chips at Wal-mart

ps3gunmetal3.jpg

Back in June, Amazon.com sold out of the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle in just in just seven minutes flat for a price of $599. Now, just four months later, Wal-mart is selling the same “limited edition” bundle for just $399.

So, time to start weighing up whether buying a PlayStation 3 with Metal Gear Solid 4 four months ago was worth $200 of your hard-earned or not.

We’re not saying anything.

metalgear14.jpg

According to this Gamecyte report, MorningStar has replaced a TGS quote attributed to a Konami rep saying the firm was looking at porting MGS4 to 360.

Schappert: 360 has the power to run MGS4

metalgear25.jpg

Scooparama. MCV’s posted a quote from Xbox Live boss John Schappert saying 360 has enough grunt to handle MGS4.

“I can’t speak on behalf of Konami, but I can shed more light on the fact that we definitely have the power to run MGS4,” he said.

“I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way,” Schappert added. “It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way.

“There are a lot of recent examples that are in true high-def on our platform and aren’t on PS3. We’ve got an amazing amount of horsepower and graphics power.”

This is so happening. More through the link.
