EA confirms Mercenaries title, Mercs Inc from Pandemic

Pandemic has announced that a new game in the Mercenaries franchise is in its early stages of development at EALA.
Called ‘Mercs Inc’ for the time being, it’s the first Pandemic game to be developed by the studio at its new home in Playa Vista.
“We are very excited to announce a new installment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic’s rich cataloge of intellectual properties,” said EA VP Nick Earl.
“From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise.”
Platform and ship dates for Mercs Inc are to be announced at a later date, but it looks like it was not “canned” after all.

EA: Mercenaries 3 a no-brainer, Mercs 10 a good possibility
During yesterday’s EA earnings conference call – following the release of Q2 financials – CEO John Riccitiello revealed that, thus far, Mercenaries 2 has moved 1.9 million copies — meaning that the highly explosive, Mohawk-sporting take on the GTA formula probably won’t be coming to a halt any time soon.
Riccitiello felt the newly christened word “sequelable” could be slapped on the Mercenaries franchise, so Mercenaries 3 is virtually confirmed. Oh, and Mercenaries 10, as well, apparently. Yes, he actually said that.
EA’s making fire and explosions predictable – mundane, even. Please Lord, just end it all now.
Thanks, Kotaku.
