Five minutes of Mercenaries 2 gameplay released
After the break. It looks pretty good, to be honest. There’s an awful lot of explosion-based activity going on, so be thankful for that. Take a look.
The action game’s out for 360, PC, PS2 and PS3 on September 9.

EA Games shouts about big summer line-up
EA’s just put a press release listing all its upcoming summer releases, including details for Battlefield: Bad Company, Burnout Paradise updates, Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, Mass Effect for PC, Rock Band Wii (US-only, we assume), Spore Creature Creator, Spore and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
The release points out that the likes of Battlefield Heroes, Battleforge, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge, Skate It, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and more are on the way from the label towards the end of the year, so it’s all looking pretty rosy on the EA Games front, truth be told.
Here’s all our coverage from the recent EA Games press day in London. Press release after the link.

EA Games Studio Showcase: Mercenaries 2 presentation – streaming audio
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was shown off in a presentation in London this afternoon, and the action title is looking very sweet. Apparently the ethic for the title is, “Can I? Yes! I can!” As you do.
For streaming audio of the full presentation, including hearing senior producer Jonathan Zamkoff being shot in the ass for the sake of a sound effect, hit the play button below.

Pandemic makes first mention of Mercenaries 3
Speaking in a Next-Gen interview, Pandemic creative director Cameron Brown has apparently confirmed that development of a third game in the Mercenaries series will get under way straight after Mercenaries 2: World in Flames ships at the end of August.
“While we don’t want to delay the game, and we certainly don’t want to disappoint anyone – and we’re keen to ship the game and move on to Mercs 3 – it was the right call for us was to make sure that co-op [in Mercs 2] was going to be properly integrated into the experience and to make sure that all that key destruction was really going to be what it needed to be,” he said.
Nothing to add to that, really. More guns for hire for the win.
Update: Oh. This isn’t the first mention at all. Eurogamer published an article on Merc 3 last July.

Bad Company and Merc 2 to ship in “fiscal 2009″
In EA’s third quarter financial statement, just released, the company said it expected Battlefield: Bad Company and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames to ship in fiscal 2009. EA’s financial year ends on March 31, meaning the games could hit anywhere between now at the end of March 2009.
The statement was the only forward-looking, specifically game-related point in the report aside from CEO John Riccitiello saying he was “looking forward” to the release of Army of Two and FIFA Street 3. No specific release dates were given.
No mention was made of Will Wright’s Spore, which has now almost certainly slipped into the back half of the year.
