EA says ‘thank you’ to gamers for support in Zynga lawsuit
EA is currently locking legal horns with Zynga over claims that the latter copied The Sims Social. Lucy Bradshaw, general manager of the Maxis label as issued a statement thanking gamers for their support throughout the issue.

SimCity Social now available for your city-building needs
EA has announced SimCity Social had left beta and is now available for you and your friends to play on Facebook. In the game, cities will evolve as a direct result of player-driven choice, and as mayor, you will deal with all sorts of unforeseen issues like fires, crime and pollution, and make crucial decisions as well. Social features allow you to build relationships with other cities – friendly or not-so-friendly – through the friend and foe system. Go play it here. Screens are below.

SimCity expected in February 2013
Here’s a little something we missed in covering EA’s E3 2012 line-up; SimCity has been dated for February 2013. The series relaunch was announced in March but EA and Maxis had not previously pinned it down beyond next year. It’s expected to launch on PC, but possibly support browser-based play.

Sim City pumps up E3 showing with new shots

Latet SimCity Glassbox video shows off how fire affects the world
How did that song go? “Fire, I bring you to burn”. Yup, that’s the one. The latest SimCity video in the Glassbox scenario video series drives home that point. Nearby buildings alongside the source of the fire are in danger of catching fire, as detailed in the video below, with your town in danger of burning to the ground if there isn’t a nearby fire station.

EA files trademark application for SimOcean
EA has filed a trademark for SimOcean. We don’t know a blessed thing more, but before you get too excited, consider that the SimCity reboot means it’s a great time to make some defensive registrations, and that Maxis’s Glassbox Engine does a lot of really funky things, some of which EA would be mad not to copyright. Good that? Good. Now go forth and speculate about The-Sims-meets-Spongebob to your hearts content.
