The next Mass Effect game has had new members added to its development team, according to a Superannuation report on Kotaku. The members are ex- Big Huge Games and Impossible Studios staffers, who have now moved on to BioWare Montreal. The report also notes that Colin Campbell is now head of the new Mass Effect’s level design team and Ian Frazier is now its lead gameplay designer. Head through the link for more information.

Apple filed a patent back in 2009 that turns in-game moral choices into an evolving comic book story, and uses Mass Effect’s dialogue system as an example. Given the rise of morally-focused adventure games out there today, this could be a neat little mechanic.

Although it has officially moved on from full-time Mass Effect 3 support, BioWare is still keeping an eye on the RPG’s multiplayer. The developer is asking fans to take the time to answer a survey about the maps, rating them difficulty, atmosphere and more. This feedback could help inform future Mass Effect multiplayer outings, should any be produced, so you potentially have a chance to help shape the franchise’s future.

Mass Effect writer Drew Karpyshyn has said filmmakers should focus on the story of humanity’s search for a place in the galaxy, which much more intrinsic to what the franchise is than, say, Tali or Garrus. Don’t shoot the messenger.

All three Mass Effect games are on sale on Origin, according to Joystiq. You can apparently grab all of them at about half-price, for a total of $25, and the sale is valid through March 12. I can’t find any mention of the offer on my end, which suggests it may be restricted to the US. The sale marks the third game’s one-year anniversary, as well as an end to DLC support.

Mass Effect has spawned a number of comic mini-series, but at Emerald City Comic Con this weekend, Dark Horse confirmed the first ongoing series set in the BioWare universe. Destructoid reports Mass Effect: Foundation is being written by Mac Walters, the lead writer on Mass Effect 3, and will tie-in with the upcoming Citadel DLC. The first issue goes on sale on July 24.

Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Impact, started yesterday. It looks as though recent losses has resulted in the implementation of troop reinforcements from “unorthodox sources.” These teammates are versed in anti-Reaper tactics, apparently. Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Nightfall, is happening as I type. In the event, Reaper-controlled geth has flourished in pockets outside of the Perseus Veil, so your task is to eliminate the geth offensive before it becomes a bigger issue. The individual goal is to earn 50,000 points against the geth trooper as any quarian kit. The reward is a Commendation Pack. Get more details through the Mass Effect 3 website.

Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Firestorm, is live. In the event, the Reapers have changed their tactics to keep from being “whittled down.” As areas are conquered, their fighting groups become fewer yet larger, “making them more difficult to assail.” Your job is to deliver as much damage as possible before evacuation. The Squad Goal is to earn the “Killstreak 3” squad medal – kill five enemies together three separate times. The reward is a Commendation Pack. Get more details through here.

Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Ballistic, is live. In the event, Recon has reported that there are many Reaper creatures out there running about the place, and they must be culled. Players will be tasked with destroying husk-creation mechanisms like Dragon’s Teeth, with the individual goal being to earn any gold weapon medal. Players can use the Assault Rifle, Heavy Pistol, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, or Submachine Gun to accomplish this. The reward is a Commendation Pack. Get more details through the link.

Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Geronimo, is live. In the event, Reaper units are identifying and targeting medics, so training in battlefield medicine for all N7 soldiers has commenced – regardless of specialty. Players will be tasked with delivering emergency care on the battlefield, in order to “confuse and frustrate the Reapers into abandoning their strategy.” The individual goal this time out, is to earn any first aid medal on any map, at any difficulty. Mass Effect 3′s latest N7 Bounty Weekend, Operation Alamo, is live and it looks as though the Reapers are making a push for Menae. Alliance Intelligence seems to think the Reapers are luring the forces into “committing large-scale defenses to the moon that they will wipe out.” The counter-strategy is to insert small, stealth units in order to conduct disruptive offensives and hold the firebase. The team goal is to earn the “Survived 5 Waves” medal on the Firebase Condor map at any difficulty with extraction not required. The reward is a Commendation Pack. Get more information here.

Apparently, the “late 2014 to mid-2015″ date for Mass Effect 4 is “inaccurate,” according to an EA spokesperson.
