Lost Planet 3 has been delayed into August for “business reasons,” Capcom has announced. Originally slated for June 25 in North America and in Europe on June 28, it will now release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on August 27 in North America and August 30 in Europe.

Lost Planet 3 lands on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in June, and if you are interested in watch the opening segments, you should head over to IGN. The site offers three videos with and without commentary. Lost Planet 3 releases in North America on June 25 and in Europe on June 28.

Lost Planet spin-off EX Troopers is never coming to the west, according to Capcom. The Nintendo 3DS shooter looks fun as all hell, and the brilliant gameplay trailer below makes us wish it was coming out here that little bit more. Sigh.

E.X. Troopers, Capcom’s action-heavy Lost Planet spin-off has received a new trailer out of TGS. Capcom recently confirmed that the game would not see a release in the West, which sucks, because it actually looks fun in a daft kind of way. Watch what you could have had below.

E.X. Troopers is a Lost Planet spin-off that takes an all-out action perspective on the franchise, along with colourful anime visuals. It looks interesting, but the 3DS game won’t be coming out in the West any time soon, developer Capcom has said.

Capcom’s released some new videos for EX Troopers, the academy-based Lost Planet spin-off heading for PS3 and 3DS. The game will take place at a school academy of sorts featuring the fight between pirates and Akrid aliens on EDN-3rd. The game is produced by Monster Hunter veteran Shintaro Kojima. It’s out this year, and a new batch of screenshots can be found over on Andriasang.

Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi has told GameDaily that Capcom’s considering other platforms for Lost Planet 2.

The game’s currently only confirmed for PC and Xbox 360, bt Takeuchi said that the firm is “currently investigating other platforms”.

He also discussed the current economic climate, saying he felt that the game industry is relatively safe despite the naysayers.

“I agree with the theory that the game industry is far less susceptible to the current economic downturn, and the market appears to have proven the theory,” he said.

This is a bit silly. Lost Planet’s cut price on Steam this weekend, down to either $5 or £3.50, depending where you are.

Just buy it. You really might as well. At least then you’ll know what’s going on with the story when you finally get the play the scrotum-shrinking sequel.

In an interview in the upcoming issue of Famitsu, Capcom’s Keiji Inafune confirmed there will be new Dead Rising and Lost planet games. He also mentioned they could potentially go multiplatform.

“We’re finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games! As a main principle we’re thinking about multi-platform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 versions.”

Kotaku reports that Inafune goes on to talk about “the business of gaming and gaming promotion.”

Remember when Square almost exploded into coins after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within vomited all over the big screen? Well, this isn’t really like that – mostly because Capcom has licensed Lost Planet out to a third-party. But still. $150-$200 million.

The information was confirmed by Capcom Head of Character Content Business Toshihiro Tokumaru during a PR interview.

To put that amount in perspective, The Dark Knight pocketed 185 million of ol’ Uncle Warner’s dollars before slipping into theaters.

It is, however, unconfirmed as to whether or not this much money exists. Nobody’s ever seen it all in one place; we asked everyone. As such, we remain skeptical.

In a lengthy interview with 1UP, Microsoft head Shane Kim said that the capture of Final Fantasy XIII should unlock many doors in Japan.

“Well, the Final Fantasy XIII announcement has some beneficial side-effects,” said Kim.

“The more games of this nature, and of the Devil May Crys and Resident Evils, that we secure on 360 opens doors for us in Japan, and gets developers over there interested in the 360, so it’s a step-by-step process.

“Take Capcom for example: they took a chance with us with Dead Rising and Lost Planet, and have had great success, with both of those titles selling over a million units each,” he continued.

“Japan is obviously a very unique market to crack and gain support in, but I think we’re making good headway with what we’ve accomplished on 360 so far, and we’ll continue to surprise you.”

Speaking at the Capcom E3 press conference yesterday, Capcom head of research and development and online business Keiji Inafune said that Lost Planet was always intended for the big screen, writes 1UP.

“Inafune went so far as to say that the company’s original goal when developing Lost Planet was “to create a game that would become a Hollywood movie,” complete with bringing the massive- robot genre out of Japan and into Hollywood,” says the piece.

The press conference’s main focus was indeed solely geared toward the Lost Planet movie and, strangely, no other games were mentioned at all.

According to this Variety story, Warner Bros and Capcom have now confirmed that a Lost Planet movie will definitely be made, and that David Hayter will write the script.

Apparently Capcom’s going to co-finance the project. No date yet.

According to this Evil Avatar post, David “Solid Snake” Hayter has revealed he is in talks with Warner Bros to write a movie based on Capcom’s Lost Planet.

The tidbit came in an episode of EvAv Radio, the full reocrding of which is promised today.
