System Shock 2 headed to digital distributors at last – rumour
System Shock 2 has escaped years of licensing horror, a report on FleshEatingZipper claims. Citing an anonymous source, the site claims a release on GOG.com is expected “within days”, with a Steam release to follow. A trailer is expected shortly, and the GOG.com version will include extra bundled content. A new company called Night Dive Studios has been linked with the rumour; it apparently specialises in “finding classic, abandoned and forgotten PC games and bringing them back into the hands of gamers”. The critically-acclaimed System Shock 2 was designed by Ken Levine, and BioShock is considered its successor in many ways. It was published by EA but a tangle of licensing has kept it from re-release.
Thanks, EvilAvatar.
