League of Legends Mac open beta is live, 3.03 patch notes released

League of Legends is now available to try on Mac thanks to the open beta. You can sign up and download it here. Meanwhile, its PC counterpart has been updated with various fixes, smart pings and changes to some Champions. Patch notes can be found on PCgamesN. League of Legends hero Elise, the lady who loves spiders so much she can turn into one, has been detailed a bit more by Riot. You know you love the idea of a scantily-clad mage-assassin as much as the next person. But that’s not all: the latest patch has hit public beta and according to PCGamesN, Rengar and Evelynn are getting nerfed while Syndra is getting a bit of a boost. Changes to other heroes have also been noted, and to find out if the changes will make you happier than a witch in a broom factory or crankier than a bear trapped in a shoebox, head through the link and squeal or weep in kind.

League of Legends – LAN support being added for tournaments

League of Legends is getting LAN support for for tournaments, according to Riot CEO Brandon Beck, who said support will be added to the tournament finals scheduled for today. Whether a LAN support client will be released to the public is unknown. Riot also promised news on the Mac client would be coming “soon.” The League of Legends Season Two Finals take place today. First MLG League of Legends Arena going on this weekend

Yesterday marked the start of the first Major League Gaming’s Summer League of Legends Arena in new York City, and more rounds continue today, starting at 2.00pm EDT. The first match, will take place between Europeans Team Black and the Koran team, Azubu Blaze, and the second match starts at 4.30pm between the North American teams Curse vs. SoloMid. Tomorrow, August 5, Azubu Blaze vs Curse takes place at 10.00am, while the SoloMid vs Black match will start at 12.30pm. The final will take place at 3.00pm, and the winning team in the final will walk home with $10,000. You can watch it live here.

The 101st champion to grace League of Legends is being teased, and apparently, she has an affinity for plant life. According to a discussion over on the LoL forums, lead champion designer Ryan Scott, the champion – rumored to be named Zyra – can use vegetation as a ranged weapon. “I’m really stoked about champion 101, because I got to work much much more directly on it than I usually do and it’s an archetype I think we’ve needed,” Scott said. “I’ll….plant a little teaser for you. Hint: She’s not made of flesh.” No word on when to expect the champion to release, but the MOBA’s latest champ, Jayce, recently released on the test servers. Thanks, PCGamesN.

The World Intellectual Property Organization has ruled the domain support-leagueoflegends.com will be transferred to Riot; don’t visit it for a few days as currently it still tries to download all sorts of nastiness to your precious machine. Over 4 million people play League of Legends daily

Riot Games has announced that over 4 million people play League of Legends every day, which is a 280% increase in players since July, when the figure was 1.4 million. The firm also stated it has 11.5 million monthly active users, and 32 million registered players worldwide.
