Premium service coming to QuakeLive, Carmack confirms
John Carmack just confirmed that a premium, subs-based service is on the way to QuakeLive.
The free-to-play shooter isn’t supportable on ad revenue alone, the developer said.
The game’s not in danger, Carmack assured, and it’s not a failure.
He said it would probably never become a completely non-free service.

Liveblog – Sony motion controller session, Develop 2009
SCEE will show its Sony motion tech at Develop in Brighton this morning, and we’re liveblogging the session after the link.
The firm promises to show “a lot more about the new PS3 controller shown at E3,” giving “several real-world examples of such techniques as used in recent and soon to be released PS3 and PSP titles from both Sony Computer Entertainment first party and external developers.”
Missable? Not really. We’ll be filming it as well, so we’ll aim to get video live as soon as we can after it’s over.
The session runs from 11.00am-12.00pm BST.

E3 2009 – Sony press conference liveblog!

It’s so on. Microsoft delivered a blistering E3 keynote in LA yesterday, leaving many shellshocked at the depth and quantity of its announcements and Sony with everything to do in its conference today.
PSP Go’s a cert, as are God of War III, Heavy Rain and the like, but what else? We could tell you what we know, but we’d be in mortal danger.
Don’t blink, for God’s sake. It’s make or break time. Nuke or die. Boom or bust.
The Sony E3 press conference starts at 11.00am PST/7.00pm BST/8.00pm CET. Get our liveblog after the break.
If you’re after streaming video, check IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot or G4.

E3 2009 – Nintendo press conference liveblog!

It’s time. Nintendo will take to the E3 stage in Los Angeles today for its 2009 keynote, and the world’s watching with stern eyes.
The Kyoto monster came unstuck at the US show last year with a weak program centred on Wii Music, and there’s a lot to prove this time out. The hardcore want blood. Mario and Zelda blood. Wii Fit Plus blood. The thrill of the megaton. The flash’s heat. The desperate stench of plumber crotch.
If the sum total of today’s showing is Cammie “Pegs” Dunaway throwing a virtual Frisbee for a dog, there’ll be ugly scenes.
When? The fanboy massive holds its breath from 9.00am PST/5.00pm BST/6.00pm CET. Get our liveblog after the break.
If you’re after streaming video, try IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot or G4.
Remember: the Sony conference follows directly after at 11.00am PST/7.00pm BST/8.00pm CET.

E3 2009 – EA press conference liveblog!

Next up with its E3 press conference is EA, and we’ll be liveblogging it when it begins at 2.00pm PST/10.00pm BST/11.00pm CET.
We’ve already had a Crysis 2 announcement today, but will there be more surprises? You betcha.
Quite how anyone can expect to follow the Microsoft conference is a bit of a mystery, though. Get all the news from that here.
If you’re after streaming video, check IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot or G4.

E3 2009 – Microsoft press conference liveblog!

Update – We’re now live!
This is it! Microsoft will take to the stage at the USC Campus’ Galen Center at 10.30am PST this morning to deliver its E3 2009 keynote, and anticipation is running white hot.
Nathan’s on his way there now, so you’ll be able to read the whole thing as it happens, right here on VG247.
Forza 3, motion-sensing, a new Crackdown, Alan Wake, Halo ODST and many more are being heavily tipped for the event, as is some kind of exclusivity on Modern Warfare 2. You cannot miss this.
If you’re in the UK, it starts at 6.25pm BST, and that’s 7.25pm CET if you’re in mainland Europe.
The CoverItLive window’s through the link. We’ll put it live once Nathan’s up and running.
For details of sites streaming video live from the conference, hit this.
Don’t forget that EA’s conference is to follow at 2.00pm PST (that’s 10.00pm BST, 11.00pm CET), followed by Ubisoft at 5.00pm PST (that’s 1.00am BST and 2.00am CET). We’ll be liveblogging both.

E3 2009 – Press conference and liveblog timings

It’s time. Mike’s got his Speedos and “Super Bunny” mask on. Steph’s been over-drinking preparatory coffee for weeks. Nathan’s so wired he’s only capable of muttering the words “airline” and “spreadsheet”. It’s E3. In LA. We’re going. You’re watching. You probably want to know when to tune in and what to expect.
Below are listed the press conference timings for next week. Note: All times are for west coast US (PST). That means you add eight hours for UK time (BST) or nine hours for Euro time (CET). We’ll be flagging up the conferences in the hours before they happen, so you shouldn’t get lost.
For planning purposes, though, here’s a run-down of what we’re liveblogging. This isn’t a definitive list of what’s happening at E3 – this is just the stuff you can watch here live.
Monday, June 1
10.30am – Microsoft press conference
2.00pm – EA press conference
5.00pm – Ubisoft press conference
Tuesday, June 2
9.00am – Nintendo press conference
11.00am – Sony press conference
6.00pm – 7.30pm – Miyamoto round-table (Note – We’re a little unclear what format this is going to take or how it’s going to pan out, but we’ll do our best)
Wednesday, June 3
3.00pm – Konami press conference (Note – We very well may not be able to liveblog this. We’ll keep you updated)
Obviously, we’ll be bringing you a head-fucking amount of news from the showfloor, so keep it locked VG247. We will never tire. We will never surrender.
Any questions, pop them in the comments.

GDC: Live from Peter Molyneux’s session!

Why not? The Lionhead boss has already said he’s not going to announce a new game at GDC this year, but he’s always worth watching.
Who knows? He’s British Development’s greatest showman, and he may well talked about the Fable II DLC he confirmed yesterday, named See the Future.
You never know until you know.
Anyway. Get it all after the link. It runs from 2.30pm-3:30pm PST. That’s 9.30pm-10.30pm GMT.
