Screenshots for LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey, have been released. The game is slated for release on 3DS this summer and this fall on DS, and Vita. An MMO is also in the works for the series by Traveller’s Tales on PC. A mobile version for the series was released in January.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings launches today in the US, and it appears some of the Xbox 360 copies at GameStop contain a demo disc instead of the actual game, Game Informer reports.

Lego builder Remi Gagne has created a Lego recreation of Link’s shield from The Legend of Zelda series, entirely out of plastic bricks and other gubbins. It’s ace. Check out photos of the creation below.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings has a new developer diary available for viewing titled: The Fellowship Rises. It discusses the Fellowship’s journey across Middle-earth and how they encountered a “wide array of unforgettable characters.” LEGO The Lord of the Rings is out this fall for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS, Vita, and PC. LEGO Lord of the Rings details have been sent over by Warner, and unsurprisingly, the game will be an open-world affair. How it could it not be – it takes place in Middle-earth after all.

As if Gimli wasn’t already adorable, the latest LEGO: Lord of the Rings screenshots prove that he can be even more so – even when trying to look formidable. But if prissy blonde elves are more to your taste, there’s one of Legolas skipping through the snow of the Misty Mountains, and for those who like a bit of grit – there’s one of Frodo, Sam, and Gollum in Mordor. There’s also a couple of Gollum shots as well. LEGO: Lord of the Rings arrives on 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 and Vita in October.

After receiving over 10,000 votes from fans, it looks as though a Portal 2-themed LEGO set has been sent for review to the LEGO committee. The votes were tallied through CuuSoo, LEGO’s crowd-sourcing portal. Granted, it’s not a given it will be produced, but think how cool that would be? It seems the world will never tire of having cultural icons rendered in too-cute digital LEGO blocks and judging by these shots of LEGO The Lord of the Rings from Kotaku, nor should it. While the hobbits look a little like The Beatles (if you squint), Gandalf, Gimli and co look suitably adorable-cum-cool. Hit the break for the heroic half dozen.

MCV‘s reporting the new LEGO Lord of the Rings set features confirmation that a tie-in game is on the way. Blurry images taken of review sets show logos for both Warner and developer Travellers Tales. TT’s main efforts as late has been the LEGO games, including Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and Batman. A sequel for the latter arrives this summer.

Warner has released its full-year financials for 2011, and reported a revenue increase of 9% $12.6 billion thanks to sales of to Batman: Arkham City, Mortal Kombat, and “several”Lego titles. Arkham City has now shipped 6 million units worldwide since October, and Q4 results for its Film and Entertainment sector, which includes video game sales, saw a 7% increase in revenue year-over-year to $3.9 billion. Revenue across all sectors for full-year 2011 was $29.0 billion, which is an 8% increase year-over-year.
