Sony has posted its first Sack it to Me update over the US PS Blog, and in it, readers become privy to some of the cool things happening throughout the vast LBP community and can also get a talk-through of the water level.

Sony has announced that after a “full year of user-generated content”, it and Media Molecules are holding the Sackie Awards – sort of like the Academy Awards – and will hand out awards to community created LittleBigPlanet goodies.

Judged by Media Molecule, Sony and the community, one was handed out to “Post–Apocalyptic” by Anpostteller for “Best Visuals and use of Special Effects in a Level”.

Other nominees in this category were:

• The Movies by Teebonesey
• Pixelation 1.0 by JackIsBack999
• Future Warzone II Trailer by Johnee

A list of Trophies for LittleBigPlanet emerged today over on PS3trophies, and to say that these are water-centric is an understatement.

Here’s what is expected to come soon, if you want to remain surprised, don’t read it:

Just in case you didn’t know already, LittleBigPlanet is one year old.

To celebrate, Media Molecule will be releasing new content over the next few weeks.

The first bit was released for free this week with two free costumes – one being the birthday Sackboy and the other being the return of the spacesuit costume.

Also, if you purchase LittleBigPlanet (PSP) through PSN from November 17 – Decemeber 3, you’ll get the six Sackboy costumes from Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and MotorStorm – just in case you didn’t know that bit already, too.

Media Molecule has said that there are no plans for a LittleBigPlanet 2.

“We’d never want to do that,” level designer Danny Leaver told Critical Gamer. “That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think.”

“I think what you’ve seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that’s the way it’s going to continue,” added producer Martin Lynagh. “We have a lot of stuff coming out, especially next year.

“We can’t really talk about specifics for a lot of it at the moment, because a lot of it hasn’t been announced.

“We’re looking forward to some really good original content, and some really strong brands we’re working with.”

Those who preorder LittleBigPlanet for PSP from GameStop will get a bonus consisting of six outfits based on PlayStation franchises.

These include two costumes each from Uncharted 2, Killzone and MotorStorm.

Order in-store and you will get a download card, order online and you’ll get the code through email.

No word on whether these outfits are a GameStop exclusive or not, but one of the costumes for Killzone is a tank. You like tanks.

An original music pack for LittleBigPlanet containing fully interactive tracks to enhance your levels lands on PS3 today.

All were composed by Mat Clark at Sonica Studios who wrote most of the original music.

‘Well Trained’ is a blues number, ‘Wise Owl’ is ambient/electronic and ‘Tea By The Sea’ is described as Anglo-French Americana.

LBP music pack one will run you £2.39/€2.99/$3.99 and include music themed stickers.

LittleBigPlanet has some free goodies up for grabs over on Sony’s US site.

As part its promotion for Sony Wonder, voucher codes for owners of Little Big Planet are being handed out for the Norse Mythology pack that includes costumes and level creation DLC.

Media Molecule has posted on its blog that LittleBigPlanet was once known as Craft World.

Showing off a flier used to pitch the game design to Sony, the proposal promises a game with “glorious photorealistic PS3-powered 3D” with peer-to-peer sharing. The now famous mascot is shown as a potato in a sack, instead of the sackboy know and loved today.

According to the blog, the firm’s IT manager has found a few DVDs containing various videos of LittlebigPlanet’s past, and promises the possibility of posting these in the future.

Glad MM changed the name at least.

A demo for LittleBigPlanet will arrive on PSN next week, allowing those who have yet to “jump in the sack” (loved that bit) a chance to try the platformer out, and see what the fuss is all about.

That rhymed a bit, sorry.

Anyway, the demo has in-game levels and mini-games for you to play with by yourself or with up to three of your friends. You can also customize your own Sackboy and play around with stickers and objects and more.

This hits on September 10 while the Game of the Year Edition is expected to be released on September 8.
