Microsoft’s Larry Hryb – better known as Major Nelson – has set Xbot hearts a-flutter by posting a countdown timer to E3 2013 with the enigmatic comment “And it’s on.” Although there’s a good five months to go before the June event, anticipation is already high. Microsoft is strongly tipped to debut its next console, apparently codenamed Durango, ahead of a possible holiday season release.

Microsoft’s given a less than subtle hint that a sequel to Realtime World’s beloved open-city 360 shooter, Crackdown, is a little more than fantasy.
“I’m here to tell you on behalf of the community, I want – we need – another Crackdown,” Xbox Live’s director of programming, Larry Hryb, told MGS boss Phil Spencer in the latest Major Nelson podcast.
“That’s all I’m going to say, so you don’t have to confirm for deny anything. I’m just saying we want it.”
“Yes, Crackdown’s one of my favourites,” said Spencer. “I’ll leave it at that.”
A sequel to Crackdown never materialized as “the numbers just didn’t add up,” we were told by Realtime Worlds studio boss Colin Macdonald told us this summer.
Macdonald himself said at the time that the studio was open to negotiations on a second game.
“I don’t think the door’s closed,” he said. “Obviously, right now we’re tied up with APB and everything else, but hopefully in the future we’ll have the resource and something can be worked out with Microsoft.”
Crackdown, a first-party Microsoft game, shipped in February 2007 to general critical acclaim.

In this week’s podcast, Major Nelson teases that if you keep on eye on his blog next week, you might be able to get your hands on New Xbox Experience early.
From the podcast:
“Major Nelson: “…I know you as my audience, you guys, you like to pick up and play. You want to get your hands on it and I don’t blame you because you’ll enjoy it. In fact, if you want to get your hands on it, let me just say this…….keep an eye on my blog next week. If you want to get your hands on it early, that’s all I’m going to say.”
E: “So let me make sure I understand this, so if I were a listener to the podcast.”
Major Nelson: “Correct”
E: “And I wanted to have access to the New Xbox Experience before November 19th. I should visit MajorNelson.com on a regular basis.”
Major Nelson: “That’s pretty much what I’m saying”
E: “Okay, interesting.
Major Nelson: “I’m not going to say anything more”
E: “I wonder what that means”
Major Nelson: “Stay Tuned. So New Xbox Experience coming November 19th….or earlier to a few of you.”

There’s a demo of 2K’s new tennis title, Top Spin 3, available right now, live, this second on the Xbox 360 Marketplace, says Major Nelson.
The demo’s available no matter where you live and as for size, well, we haven’t checked, and Larry hasn’t told us, so no joy there.
Update: The demo is 394 Mb in size. So rest easy. Thanks, Enkeixpress.
