It’s possible to beat MGS: Rising without killing anyone, says producer

When your goal is to be the second most invisible person in the fictional world (number one goes to the Invisible Woman for, well, obvious reasons), it’s actually not all that difficult to avoid sullying your hands by snapping some necks.
But when you’re a one-man army/watermelon-dicing machine, being discrete about who you do and don’t slice to ribbons isn’t quite as much of a priority. Rising, however, is still a Metal Gear game. And a no-kill playthrough, according to the game’s producer, is still definitely an option.

Konami rides strong sales of Peace Walker, PES 2010 to Q1 profit jump

Step 1: A handheld Metal Gear game that doesn’t somehow involve card games or evil puppets. Step 2: Anything even tangentially related to football during World Cup season. Step 3: A creepy Japanese girlfriend simulator. Step 4: Question marks – many of them related to Japan’s societal well-being.
Step 5: Profit.

Xbox Live Arcade.

Ninety Nine Nights 2 gets official NA release date

Does the idea of beating up earth’s entire population five times over in the span of five minutes have your money practically leaping out of your wallet and into a nearby cash register? Would you like nothing more than to do so while wearing a impractically tiny chainmail bikini?
Well then, you kind of scare us. But don’t worry, because Feelplus and Q Entertainment have your back.

Solid Snake’s voice actor explains what happened to Metal Gear movie

Featuring a gruff, macho main character, over-the-top action, sabotage, and more twists than a bag of Twizzlers, all Metal Gear needs is a few blue people and it’s pure Hollywood gold.
So, what’s the deal? Why hasn’t Hideo Kojima’s stealth-action odyssey infiltrated movie theaters yet? While guest-blogging over at MTV’s Movies Blog, Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter did his best to explain.

Rumor: Six-player co-op Castlevania coming to XBLA

Dracula can scarcely stave off one Belmont at a time, so we can’t imagine he’s too pleased that six members of vampire-slayin’-est family around will soon be banging down his doors.
There are going to be so many broken wine glasses. But enough intro; have at this post!

Kojima wouldn’t mind if a “foreign developer” remade the original Metal Gear

Not the original Metal Gear Solid, mind you. That sort of already happened. No – Kojima’s all for a remake of Metal Gear’s humble, comparatively cutscene-free beginnings. One teensy problem, though: Kojima’s booked solid for – oh – the rest of his life at the moment.
“It doesn’t have to be me who makes it,” Kojima suggested in an interview with Kotaku. “I made it a long time ago. It could be somebody young that maybe has more abilities than I do….It would even be good if a foreign production team even did it.”
So, who would you like to see give 8-bit Snake a modern makeover? We’re thinking Rocksteady. After Arkham Asylum, just imagine what the developer could do with Metal Gear’s blend of stealth and action.

Castlevania ReBirth is next Konami title to be Wii-incarnated

First Contra and Gradius got the “ReBirth” treatment, and now – if a recent ESRB listing is to be believed – Castlevania is next in line.
Titled “Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth,” the game’s ESRB description is as follows:
“This is a side-scrolling action game in which players battle against monsters in Dracula’s castle. Players use a chained whip to fight their way through halls and dungeons filled with zombies, skeletons, flying eyeballs, and bats. The enemy creatures frequently shoot projectiles and attack players in hand-to-hand combat. If players sustain too much damage, they keel over and emit a burst of red blood. Some rooms in the castle also have spikes or spears stained with red, blood-like splotches.”
Title sound familiar? That’s because a series entry on the Game Boy shared the same moniker. Could this be that game’s Dracula-esque resurrection? Probably. Either that, or Konami just loves confusing us.
Oh, the game will be rated “T,” in case you were wondering. That is sort of the whole point of this ESRB thing, isn’t it?

MGS: Peace Walker playable at TGS

Metal Gear games – which count fat men on rollerskates, ancient wheelchair-bound snipers, and immortal vampires among their standout features – have never exactly been “normal.” However, Peace Walker’s even got Metal Gear devotees doing double-takes, so you’ll be happy to hear that Peace Walker will be publicly playable at TGS.
According to Kotaku, you’ll be able to try Peace Walker at Konami’s booth or download it to your own PSP and peace walk the show floor.
Now then, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to start scanning Ebay for “PSP w/ Peace Walker demo.” We want us some Peace Walker, pronto!

Rumor: Konami working on exclusive “new title” for Xbox 360

Metal Gear Solid composer Norihiko Hibino’s website has revealed a new Konami title for the Xbox 360.
The site lists the game under 2009 projects, and has it as a Japan release only so far:
Bayonetta is listed as a PS3 only title on the site, when it clearly isn’t, so an Xbox exclusive is just speculation at this point. Hopefully some light will be shed on this in June.
We can’t say it enough – come on E3.
