Konami has reported that 35,000 unauthorised log-ins attempts to the Konami ID portal have occurred due to Pro Evo user ID and passwords being leaked. The firm said nearly four million attempts were made by a third-party user. The names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers and email addresses were accessed, therefore all Konami ID users will need to change their passwords. All those affected should have received an email on the matter. Konami has since strengthened security and raised the monitoring level. Thanks, Eurogamer.

This Gamekyo piece claims Konami’s dropping the need for a Konami ID for online PES 2010 play.
This will come as welcome relief after the ridiculous Metal Gear Online registration clusterfucks. Supposedly, all you need do now is buy the game and go online with it, without having to add two proprietary IDs. Amazing.
Microsoft and Sony are to run the servers this time. Not Konami.

We missed this last night, but the Konami ID registration site is now back up. There’s a “quick registration” bit for the Metal Gear Online beta, should you not yet be weary of having to sort out three exclusive IDs and watch everything explode every 10 minutes to play a test version of a game that’s going to be released in a couple of months.
