The King of Fighters XII will launch on September 25 for both 360 and PS3 in the UK, Ignition said today.

The new date’s a slip from the previously announced August 28 release. Which is today.

SNKs King of Fighters XII has a tentative release date of April for Japan and will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Here. They’re taken from Famitsu and cover details of an upcoming official playtest of the SNK fighter in Japan. The game’s 100 percent hand drawn and will make it to consoles in 2009, so if you’re looking to an alternative to Street Fighter IV, you may have found it.

So says this. That really does mean everything.

“The game is 100 percent hand drawn,” said producer Masaaki Kukino. “There is zero cell shading in The King of Fighters XII.”

He added: “We knew it was going to be hard going in. But we wanted to make the ultimate 2D fighting game.”

The title was shown in video form for the first time at the recent AOU arcade show in Tokyo. It will release for 360 and PS3 in 2009.

As predicted, KoF XII has been shown for the first time at the Japanese AOU show. We still don’t know what we’re talking about with this, but it looks very cool nonetheless. It’s shown in demo from running on Taito’s TypeX2 arcade board. The game’s going to be making a console appearance in 2009. Check it out.

“King of Fighters XII will first be displayed on Taito’s Type X² [arcade board - Ed] and later ported to Sony’s PS3 in 2009, with a possible release on the Xbox 360 in the same year,” said the report.

King of Fighters is something we know very little about but are afraid to admit it in case the people that play it obsessively hunt us down and kill us. But this is probably a “very big deal” in the fighting world. KoF XII’s going to be shown in video form at the upcoming AOU arcade show in Japan later this week.

Update: This is old. See, we told you we knew nothing about it. Expect to see a movie of the game in some shape or form from AOU later this week.
