NPD year-to-date console sales dominated by Resident Evil, Killzone

Gamasutra‘s got a listing of each console’s top-selling games in the US so far this year. It’s straight from NPD, but has gone live after the monthly NPD reports. For us, it’s like getting an early Christmas present (or finding an Easter egg after Easter’s over, depending on your level of pessimism), as you can imagine.
For each game, total sales figures were estimated, and as such, the NPD wasn’t able to apply its sales magic to every game. If you’d like to see estimated sales numbers, click through the link. The lists are as follows:
PS3
1. Killzone 2
2. Resident Evil 5
3. Street Fighter IV
4. UFC Unleashed
5. MLB ’09: The Show
The other two consoles are after the break.

Guerrilla far from finished with PS3, promises more for Killzone 2

Guerrilla Games’ senior producer, Steven ter Heide, has said that the firm is far from finished with PS3, and while each release of Killzone has been for each Sony platform, it is not waiting around on PS4 to emerge.
“PlayStation 3 has a very long life ahead still, and we’re certainly not done developing for this platform,” Heide told The Gamer Access. “We still see enough opportunities to get better and pushing the platform even further.”
While refusing to comment on future projects, he did reveal that Guerrilla will continue to dish out the DLC for Killzone 2.
“Part of Killzone 2′s focus points was to allow players to create their own customized games as much as possible and to a large extent I think we have succeeded,” he said. “However, we are always looking at the way the community is responding to our designs and will take this type of feedback into consideration for future projects and possibly DLC.
“I cannot tell you specifics right now though.”
Thanks, CVG.

Killzone 2 getting patched, more info on DLC 3 next week

The third bit of downloadable content for Killzone 2 is expected soon, and Sebastian Downie from Guerrilla Games says more information on it is expected next week.
Apparently it’s called Napalm & Cordite and it has flamethrowers and boltguns. Nifty.
Before that can be released, however, there is the small matter of the patch expected for the game, which will land on Bastille Day.
Or July 14 if you’re not French.
The US PS Blog was kind enough to list the patch notes through an official press release, which can be found through the link or after the break.

Halo 3 and Halo Wars sell between 57,000 and 74,000 units in April

Killzone 2 may have sold 58,000 units in the US during the month of April, but according to recent NPD numbers, Halo 3 may have outsold it.
A report from Gamasutra divulges that Halo 3 and Halo Wars sold somewhere between 57,000 and 74,000 units a piece.
While exact figures for each were lacking in the report, it’s seems likely that Halo 3 likely topped 58,000 units but then again it could easily have been Halo Wars.
