Nintendo has dubbed May 19 Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Battle Day. The designation has been set so the game’s fanbase can organize its own multiplayer tournaments, meetups and social gatherings for the title using Meetup Everywhere. Using broadband or local wireless, players can compete in multiplayer modes ranging from three-on-three Light versus Dark mode or six-player Free-for-All mode. The 20 groups with the most participants will receive special Kid Icarus: Uprising premium items such as AR Card packs and T-shirts, while supplies last. Those interested in a Kid Icarus: Uprising multiplayer event using Meetup Everywhere should click here to find events in their area or to plan their own meetups.

Nintendo has launched a new Kid Icarus: Uprising promotion with Argos which will net consumers free pack of 24 AR cards when they purchase the game from the retailer between now and May 31. HMV isn’t left out of the deal, as various stores across the UK will be hosting a contest in which those who bring their 3DS by the store can win a limited edition Kid Icarus poster. Nintendo has announced its full list of titles its bringing to PAX East this weekend, including Mario Tennis Open, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir and Ketzal’s Corridors, as well as Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario Kart 7. Speaking of Icarus, Nintendo will also be related events, including AR scavenger hunts and a multiplayer tournament.

Nintendo has announced how to discover and collect hundreds of special AR Cards to use with Kid Icarus: Uprising, which feature characters, enemies, bosses, weapons and other items which appear in the game.

Kid Icarus: Uprising has become the 19th game in Famitsu’s history – and the first 3DS title to do so – to achieve a full 40/40 score from the mag.

“Movies and such are much better at telling stories in an effective and enjoyable way than games are.”
– Legendary designer Masahiro Sakurai, director of Kid Icarus: Uprising, speaking to Nintendo Power, as reported by Destructoid. Sakurai said the game contains “a ton of talking” but that he “didn’t add all that voice in order to tell a story.” Kid Icarus: Uprising launches exclusively for 3DS on March 23.

Nintendo Europe’s announced that Kid Icarus: Uprising will launch in Europe on March 23, the same day it comes out in the US. The game will launch the day before on March 22 in Japan. Uprising sees Pit go up against Medusa, who’s out to destroy mankind after being reborn.

Gamers who have already spent time with Kid Icarus: Uprising have walked away with one uniform comment – gameplay aside, playing the game is rather uncomfortable. There’s only so many hours you want to spend hunched over a stylus – and with action as fast-paced as this, the number’s even less.
However, it seems that (in Japan at least), Nintendo’s taken preview comments to heart, shipping the game alongside a handy plastic stand.

Kid Icarus: Uprising director Masahiro Sakurai has said the game will support left-handed gamers via means of the Circle Pad Pro. “The way we are using the Circle Pad Pro in the game is to provide support for left-handed gamers,” said Sakurai, speaking to ONM UK in its latest issue. “We’ve made it possible to use the right Circle Pad in place of the left one.”
And the winners of today are the left-handed folk. Kid Icarus: Uprising launches on March 21 in the UK and March 23 in the US for 3DS.
