Remember Aquaria, that mermaid based metroidvania you’ve gotten as part of a few indie bundles now but possibly never played? Well it’s creator, Alec Holowka and animator Scott Benson have teamed up to launch a really quite spectacular looking “Adventure/Exploration” 2D platformer where you obtain new abilities to go new places (nowhere is the word metroid mentioned) called Night in the Woods on Kickstarter. They’re asking for $50,000 and have an art style to back up that demand, check it out after the cut.

SCALE is one of those really interesting Kickstarter campaigns that come along a little too often for the health of my wallet. It’s a “first person reality manipulation game that reimagines exploration with a unique resizing mechanic.” If you’re not sure what that means, the game gives you a device that can make any item any size. It’s essentially a make-your-own-Honey I Shrunk/Blew Up the Kids a game. Sold yet?

Boogerman: A Pick ‘n’ Flick Adventure was a pretty disgusting but enjoyable game on the Sega Mega Drive. To commemorate 20 years of digging snot out of the chap’s nose, the original creators are back on Kickstarter to fund an HD sequel.

David Hayter, best known to gamers as the voice of Snake in all Metal Gear Solid Games prior to The Phantom Pain, has signed onto Hinterland’s first-person survival sandbox adventure The Long Dark. Hinterland announced the news in a Kickstarter update, and also provided a new video showing off some of the choices you’ll have to make; check it out through the break.

Jennifer Hale, a prolific voice actor known for her work on Mass Effect, BioShock Infinite, Halo 4, and Metal Gear Solid among dozens of other notable roles, has signed on for a role in The Long Dark, Hinterland’s first-person, post-disaster survival sim. The Long Dark has five days remaining on its Kickstarter campaign and requires a further $30,000 to reach its $200,000 goal. Check out some early gameplay footage if you’re interested.

Retro 2D action RPG Hyper Light Drifter has smashed past its $550,000 Wii U release stretch goal just five days after adding it. The project’s next stretch goal is $600,000; Heart Machine hasn’t figured out what it is yet, but in a Kickstarter update it mentioned a number of creatives interested in contributing to the project. The campaign has 38 hours remaining at time of writing. Hyper Light Drifter is coming to Linux, Mac, Ouya, PC, PlayStation 4 and Vita as well as Wii U.

Hyper Light Drifter developer Alex Preston has added a Wii U stretch goal to the Kickstarter campaign for his 2D action RPG. The game is already set to release on PS4 and Vita alongside its PC, Mac, Ouya and Linux counterparts in June 2014. Should the project hit $550,000 – and with 7 days left it’s looking rather likely – the game have Wii U added to the release sku. At press time, 17,816 backers have pledged $452,241 towards the project, literally smashing the original $27,000 goal to dust. Thanks, rumrod.

The Long Dark Kickstarter page has been updated with the first screenshots of the title from Hinterland, a studio comprised of ex-Relic, Bioware, Riot and Volition developers. We’ve posted them for you below. The episodic first-person sandbox survival experience set in a North America after a disaster has 10 days left to reach its $200,000 goal, and as of post time, 3,249 backers have pledged $106,376.
