Karateka, the follow-up to Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner’s first game, will release on Steam Monday, December 3, according to Polygon. The game will run you $9.99 but is 10% off it’s first week on the store. The remake releases on Xbox Live November 7, with PSN and iOS versions expected before the end of the year. A Wii U version is expected as well, but remains undated.

A last minute announce has alerted us to cult favourite adventure The Last Express’s iOS debut this week.

Karateka has been rated by the ESRB for release on iOS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The reboot of a classic 1984 fighter from Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner was announced in February, but this is the first we’ve heard of mobile or Wii U versions.

Nearly 30 years ago, Jordan Mechner – the man who went on to create Prince of Persia – received a fan letter in response to his earlier work, one-on-one fighter Karateka. The author praised Mechner’s graphics (particularly the scrolling background), and mentioned that he was a budding programmer who wanted to grow up to create games.

The young letter writer was John Romero, who did indeed grow up and create games, helping to popularise the FPS genre while he was at it.

Prince of Persia creator and scriptwriter for the upcoming Sands of Time film, Jordan Mechner, has said that while he was not directly involved with the casting for the flick, he was very pleased with the choices.

Disney has announced that it plans to release a graphic novel based on the Prince of Persia movie.

It is to be penned by the creator of Prince of Persia, Jordan Mechner and Todd McFarlane has created the exclusive art to be featured on the cover and the interior art in the 128-page novel includes more talented names in comics.

It features six original stories, is a prequel to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time film and will be released in April 2010 in hardcover and paperback with a 125,000 first print run.
