Former Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello said during his talk at the Gaming Insiders Summit that game brands need to be consistent like Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and FIFA but brands also need to innovate and it can be done without the need for adding Star Wars skins or stuffed toys like Rovio did with Angry Birds – in his opinion.

On October 1, EA filed a Form 8-K with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, noting a change in Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers. Basically, what this means, is that EA has cut the salary of executive chairman Larry Probst from $1.03 million to $515,000 annualized, minus applicable deductions.

Will Wright has announced the formation of a new startup called Syntertainment, which will focus on blending “reality and entertainment.” The firm was co-founded by Avi Bar-Zeev who will serve as CTO, CPO and acting CEO. A group of investors in the firm include former EA CEO John Riccitiello, the Mayfield Fund, Foursquare executive Dennis Crowley, and HVF founder Max Levchin with venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz handling the funding round.
