Launched last November on Sony’s service and made free a month later, Halfbrick’s Jetpack Joyride has hit the 2-million download mark, according to Joystiq. The game is wildly popular on all platforms; on Google Play it’s been downloaded more than ten million times. This is a good sign for Sony, because it means folks are actually using PlayStation Mobile, which is accessible on the PS Vita and Sony phones.

Halfbrick has announced that Jetpack Joyride has been downloaded one million times on PS3. The free-to-play title was released in September 2011 on iOS before being released through PSN. “We want to extend a massive thanks to the dedicated team at Big Ant for bringing Jetpack Joyride to Sony’s passionate and thriving online community,” Phil Larsen, CMO of Halfbrick told MCV. “Our amazing fans continue to exceed expectations, paving the way for more exciting releases further down the line.” An update for the Vita version is in the works.

Jetpack Joyride will release in North America on PSN this week, Halfbrick has announced. The game has been download over 35 million downloads worldwide since release on Facebook and iOS. The minis version of the game comes with a free unlocked Sansei look and Traditional Jetpack, a free activated Head Start and Quick Revive as well as Final Blast utilities available for single use with every new save data created. Halfbrick has launched Jetpack Joyride on Facebook. Currently in beta, the game will allow players to complete with their Facebook buddies and post screenshots to their pages. RIM is set to make a heavier games presence for BlackBerry devices. The company’s head of gaming Anders Jeppsson tweeted from BlackBerry World big titles that are set to arrive to PlayBook and Blackberry 10, including Sonic 4: Episode 1, Jetpack Joyride, the just-released Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and more.

Halfbrick has released a video for Jetpack Joyride update 1.3 update which will bring some gadgets into the game. Two of these provide special abilities which will net more coins. The Ezy-Dodge Missile will slow missiles down to be avoided more easily and Fancy shoes called Air Barrys will Mr.SteakFries jump over obstacles easier. At release the total will hot around the fifteen items mark and mixing and matching will net you some nice combos. The update is set for release in April. Hit up the video below courtesy of D’toid.
