Japanese hardware sales: DSi back on top

DSi punched its way back to the top of the Japanese hardware sales charts this week, overtaking both PSP and PS3. Normality is restored.

Yet another big week for PlayStation hardware in Japan, although the joint PSP-PS3 fgiure isn’t as impressive as last week.
Wii’s up a bit, though. And 360′s down a lot. Keep the edge of your seat warm for next week’s data.

Japanese hardware sales: Godzilla PlayStation rules Tokyo

PlayStation hardware roared over Japan like Godzilla standing on the Tokyo Tower this week, with PS3 and PSP selling almost 100,000 units between them.
PS3 sales have actually risen since Yakuza 3 launched two weeks ago, so Sony will be pleased and punch. Probably pleaseder.

PS3 outsold all other hardware formats in Japan last week, thanks to rocket sales of Yakuza 3.
Sony will probably be “chuffed”.

It’s all about DSi in Japan, apparently, as the Nintendo handheld revision surges forward this week to over 125,000 units, up from 87,000 in the previous week.

Japanese hardware sales, November 17-23
DS Lite and Xbox 360 have had something of a renaissance compared to last week in Japan, with sales of each both rising, well, lots.
PS3 sales were static, as were DSi’s. Wii’s doubled, selling to all the fabled Japanese people that still don’t own one.

Japanese hardware sales – November 3-9
DSi held up well into a second week on sale in Japan, according to Media Create figures released overnight, with more than 100,000 units sold compared to 172,000 in its launch week.
PS3 sales more than halved compared to last week, and 360 sales more than doubled. So that’s neat.

Japanese weekly hardware figures: PS3 sales hit an all time low
The latest Famitsu estimates are out and data predicts that the PS3 has sold a mere 4,800 units for week ending October 17. The 360 outsells PS3 yet again, this time by 1,200 units. However, Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP show them both how it should be done.

Japanese hardware sales: PS3 heads for the hard deck
Oh dear. The latest Media Create figures paint a grim picture of PS3′s fortunes in Japan right now, with the machine now the lowest selling current gen console on the market, and by far at the lowest level it’s ever been in Japan. Xbox 360′s still doing relatively well, tracking above both PS3 and PS2.

Xbox 360 outsold PS3 in September in Japan
Enterbrain figures have shown this morning that Xbox 360 outsold PS3 in Japan in September.
Microsoft sold 53,547 units of the 360 in the four weeks to September 28, compared with 33,071 units of the PS3.
Wii sold more than both of them put together, obviously: the machine moved 109,548 units in the month.

Enterbrain: Japanese games market is shrinking
Quoting Enterbrain figures, the Nikkei – as relayed by Reuters – has reported that the Japanese games market has actually shrunk in the past six months, down 21.3 percent in the April to September fiscal first half compared to the same period last year to be worth 238.8 billion yen.
Apparently, hardware sales fell 33.5 percent to 95.23 billion yen in the first six months.

PSP lords over Japanese hardware sales for July
Enterbrain’s reported Japanese hardware sales for July, and PSP’s still flying in the Far East with over 250,000 units sold. No Xbox 360 figures were released, unfortunately “not pretty” probably sums it up. Details below.
