Irrational Games has laid off a small number of staff, and a statement from the developer assures the lay-offs won’t impact development of BioShock Infinite’s DLC.

Aspyr’s OS-X port of BioShock Infinite has landed, and can be obtained from Steam or via the Mac App Store, or in Steam code form from various digital distributors including Aspyr itself. The port specialist offers a systems requirement check via its GameAgent service, which you should definitely utilise; my work Mac won’t run it, that’s for sure. Already North America’s best-selling multi-platform title, the Irrational Games effort is also available on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

BioShock: Infinite is discounted on PSN until August 16. If you have yet to try Irrational’s shooter this could be your perfect chance.

BioShock is getting some kind of announcement today at 8am EST, as confirmed by Irrational Games boss Ken Levine. The smart money says this is a DLC expansion, while others suggest its news on the PS Vita game. However, Levine has debunked the latter.

Ken Levine has said on Twitter that he spoke with Sony and 2K regarding BioShock Vita “yesterday,” and that he is still “trying to make a match.” Back in February, it was noted that the game was still a long ways off, as the Irrational Games boss said at the time if it were to happen, it would be a business deal negotiated between Take-Two and Sony. Until that happens, his hands are tied until the two companies “sign off”. Anyway, keep hope alive.

Those anxiously awaiting the release of Bioshock Infinite DLC, may have felt a bit let down when Irrational head Ken Levine said it was still a ways off. However, industry man-in-the-know Geoff Keighley has said to expect news on the DLC at the end of July. That’s not too bad then, considering it turns July tomorrow. Bioshock Infinite was released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March.

Bioshock Infinite’s first DLC is still a ways off, according to Ken Levine, but you can at least download the Columbia’s Finest pack today through Steam, PSN, and XBLA.
