New iPad model to debut this month – rumour
Apple rumours are a dime a dozen so let’s do this quickly: “multiple sources” have told an unnamed “major Apple investor” that invitations are soon to go out for the debut of the long-rumoured iPad Mini. The investor told Fortune that invitations will be mailed out on October 10, meaning the event itself is likely to be about one week after that, with a product launch hot on its heels. The iPad has seen two major revisions and sold like hotcakes since its launch in 2010 and speculators have long expected a more compact version to appear.

Apple invitations for September 12 event start rolling out
Apple has sent out invitations for its September 12 media event, which takes place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10.00am PDT/1.00pm EDT. Unfortunately, the invite doesn’t contain clues regarding what the firm plans to announce, as with previous invitations, but it’s rumored a mini version of iPad and possibly iPhone 5 will be announced. iPad mini and its 7.85 inch display to launch in October – rumor
The rumored iPad mini may launch in October, according to a report on Bloomberg. The tablet is rumored to have a 7.85 inch display, which is a bit shorter than the standard 9.7 inches. LG and AU Optronics are also both supposedly creating screens for the new product while Foxconn is rumored to be once again creating the laminated top coat. Rumors from July stated the iPad mini was slated for a September release, but the sources may have been confused with an announcement date instead: Apple’s holding a press event on September 12. Rumor – Apple working on smaller iPad
A source close to The Wall Street Journal has said component suppliers in Asia are prepping a new iPad model with a smaller, 7 to 8-inch screen, similar to the Google Nexus 7, but non-HD. Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu, told WSJ he believes the rumored tablet will run around the $199, which is close to the price point of Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Wu also told Blomberg the device would be Amazon, Microsoft and Google’s “worst nightmare”.
