During Quake con, which runs until August 5 on US time, you can grab any of of id Mobile’s games for 99 cents from the App Store. The full catalogue is: RAGE, RAGE HD, DOOM Classic, DOOM Resurrection, DOOM II RPG and Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum. These may be the last mobile games you see from id in some time; the mobile team has been absorbed by DOOM 4′s development.

Here’s one final nugget from Superannuation’s regular column of industry archaeology: Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein and Rage developer id Software is recruiting staff to work on “future generation consoles”. It’s not clear what the Bethesda-owned developer is up to at the moment, although we’re waiting on a Doom 4 announce. Hiring for next-generation platforms is definitely in fashion at the moment; Infinity Ward and Microsoft are both at it again this week.

As spotted by Siliconera, PEGI recently rated something from Bethesda called Rqge: The Scorchers, for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Scorchers were a sixth bandit clan cut from Rage during development, so it seems quite likely we’re looking at an expansion or DLC pack for the 2011 id Software shooter.

Bethesda has flat out denied that Doom 4 has been “indefinitely postponed,” saying any such report is “bollocks.

AMD has released new drivers, available on its website, in response to complaints of screen tearing, texture and performance issues with the PC version of Rage.
According to the Bethesda Blog, Id is working with Nvidia to push out a similar fix. Users are advised to wait for the Rage-specific update rather than upgrading willy-nilly.
Of particular note are those using drivers updated for the Battlefield 3 beta, which will need to be rolled back.
Rage released yesterday in the US and arrives elsewhere by the end of the week, for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Reviews have been largely delighted.

Bethesda’s put out a video of RAGE’s Anarchy Edition today, showing what big spenders can expect from the bumped up version. You automatically get this pack when you pre-order, so get on it: the game’s out on October 4 in the US and October 7 in Europe.
