Quake removed from German index list
The German Government had removed classic 1996 shooter Quake from its list of indexed titles. Prior to its de-indexing, general retailers could not offer the iD Software title for sale, even through mail order. Bethesda seems to be in the process of appealing the indexing of iD Software’s back-catalogue, as Doom and Doom 2 were recently let free, too; Germany allows appeals after ten years.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Doom 3 source code available now
Id, as promised, has released the source code for Doom 3. A delay was threatened when tech director John Carmack recently tweeted that lawyers for Bethesda were “skittish about the patent issue” with a trick called Carmack’s Reverse that was used in the full game, but the law, quite clearly, is an ass. It’s now available from GitHub. Get to it.
Thanks, Gamefront.
