The average joe paid $8.53, with platform-specific averages showing Linux buyers, as usual, a little more flush in the pocket than their Mac and PC brethren. The usual bidding war for top donation ended with Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson in second place behind the Humble Brony Bundle initiative. The Humble Bundle scheme supports independent developers and charitable causes, so well done everyone.

At time of writing, you only have 18 hours left to take advantage of the Humble Bundle V, which gathers together some smashingly good indie classics for as much money as you care to pay. Currently, if you pony up anything over $8.50 you’ll score eight games instead of four, which is a sweet deal indeed. All games are DRM-free and cross-platform; you can decide how much of your payment goes to charity; and you’ll get a couple of ace soundtracks as well. Over 570,000 sterling gamers have taken part in this scheme already, bringing in over $$4,860,000.
