Yep, Paradox Interactive, that game publisher we so love for the likes of Crusader Kings and Magicka, will be publishing ebooks. And not just one type of ebook, but lots of different kinds. And it all begins with A Year with Mojang: Behind the Scenes of Minecraft by Thomas Arnroth.

Hearts of Iron 3: Their Finest Hour has slots open in the beta, and you could win 10. Winners will also walk away with a complete Hearts of Iron pack or a game of their choice from Paradox. All you have to do to enter, is describe your best moment from any game or expansion in the Hearts of Iron series and explain why this moment has left a “strong impression on your heart of iron.” Details can be found here. Parados has also released a new set of screenshots for the strategy title, which is the third major content release since Hearts of Iron III launched in 2009. Hearts of Iron 3: Their Finest Hour is out sometime later this year.

Finally, some E3 2012 news for the PC Elite. And by PC Elite, I mean that portion of it that doesn’t get a headache and lie down when confronted with the amazingly complicated grand strategy Hearts of Iron III, which is about to get even bigger.

Forget all this twitchy science fiction stuff; Hearts of Iron III is where the grand strategy’s at. Paradox Interactive have released a developer diary for the staggeringly open-ended WWII title’s second expansion, For the Motherland, highlighting the new partisan warfare system, improved politics, and resource usurpation.

Digital download sites Steam and Direct2Drive have released charts for week ending August 8.
Looks like Dawn of War II led the group over on Steam, with the Aion Collector’s Edition pre-sale still going strong.
Over on D2D, Champions Online preorders have taken over, with Fallout 3 and the Sims 3 still doing well.
